I've been playing the Solitaire daily challenges for a few years. Two days ago, when I clicked the daily challenges I received an error

    DOWNLOAD ERROR
An error occurred while trying to download data from our servers. Please check your internet connection and try again.

My internet connection is fine. Everything else through the internet works fine, so I put it down to a problem with their servers. Yesterday, same problem. Today, same problem.

Is anyone else getting this error? If it just me, what could be the cause and what can I try to attempt to fix it?

    Thanks

    Tony

Yes, shows the right time and time zone.

Just tested the daily challenges myself, didn't have any issues accessing them. Have another w10 device to test on?

Just tried it on the laptop and no problems, so it must be something with the desktop. Maybe something to do with windows defender - that's the only AV I use.

I've not made any changes in that area for ages.

Would seem to be so. Not running any VPN or proxy configurations anywhere?

    Sorry for the slow response

No. Definitely not a VPN, almost definitely no proxies involved - I wouldn't know how to set one up and the system hasn't changed in that sort of area for ages. The laptop and desktop are connected to the same ethernet so it must be something specific to the desktop. Definitely beyond my knowledge.

    This is weird.

I tried starting windows in safe mode with networking to see if the download would work then, but the solitaire collection wouldn't start. So I gave up and restarted in normal mode.

Now the download works - at least it has done once.

    Very strange
