    All consoles have stupid names:

Gamecube - A cube that plays games
Xbox - A box with an X on it
    Wii - nuff said
Playstation - a station you can play at

    You're right!

    Only Sega made exciting names

    Master System

Megadrive or Genesis (2 awesome names - 1 awesome console)

    Saturn

    Dreamcast.

current naming conventions are built around brand awareness of the device not the company it would seem (ie MS is secondary to xbox sony is secondary to ps and ninty is secondary to the Wii brand).

xbox was called xbox due to its use of directx and then they just kinda ran with it...

i get your point... but it makes no sense to call this the xbox one... it just creates confusion

Did they have a stream? I'm pretty sure they did, maybe that caused it...

The one part will be dropped, people will just say xbox/ps4 and wii down the track I reckon.

    Slow ram
    Slow GPU
    Same CPU

PS4 is going to obliterate this thing.

the n64 was only called that because everyone was nuts about "bits" in consoles back then... ZOMG 64BITS!... what are bits? no one knows or cares but if you have more then it MUST be better....

    ah simpler times...

N64 was an awesome console name.
Although the codename for the Gamecube was better.

    Nintendo REVOLUTION.
    Awesome.

Wasn't the revolution the Wii? and the Gamecube the Dolphin?

I miss that, and when you got a SNES Cart like some of the latter ones which were 32bit compared to say 8bit earlier ones, which also cost more as a result too... good times!
