early days. this is the first power up.
i need a 12v psu to get it going properly (apparently) and to sort out the display modes.
but that dodonpachi shot is at 57hz and looks most excellent in the flesh. i really need to think about a case for this display. i havent really thought this purchase through :)

edit - the crazy high dpi is nice on the eyes for sure

It's all the little touches.. like the mount for the OLED so it's flush with the top PCB

Glad I ordered mine when I did because now I would not have that option.

Do we know the reason for this? Is it a supply chain problem, a popularity problem, something else?

Without knowing if there was an influx in sales due to the Verge article or a slowdown in manufacturing/shipping due to the pandemic I think we can only speculate.

Yeah I'm somewhat worried about the former. And agreed, I don't want to go off half cocked and make wild assumptions either.

There were some rather heated discussions on the MiSTer forums about whether or not wider popularity of the project was a good thing or not. But I personally think most of that was total nonsense.

Anyways, again, just searching for any information anyone has at this point, rather than trying to jump to conclusions.

I've been meaning to order another DE10 nano for a while now for a candy cab build. Just ordered one now from terasic, looks like they still have them in stock.

If it were the former, then is it really so bad that there are many new MiSter users?
Or is this a case of the unwashed masses coming to taint the community with their entitlement and lack of refinement? (or irrational fear thereof)
Not saying you're looking at it this way, but is that a feeling in the community?

Or is it simply a fear that if something blows up too big it becomes a target for cease and desist orders and litigation?

I'm squarely in the "the more, the merrier" camp. I've dedicated almost 30 years of my life to both open source and video game preservation, emphasising that accessibility is necessary to preserve things.

But you know how these things go. There's always people who want to make it an exclusive club. To this day, I still don't truly understand their motivations.

My comments above are more related to the fact that, if a user influx did cause a temporary shortage, it may fuel those calling for said exclusivity. So I'm hoping it's unrelated, just to avoid that noise.

This is true. Start of the uni year would certainly put a dent in stock levels.

it might be a case of little bit of all of the above for the supply shortages ?

columm A - supply chain issues
    +
    columm B - demand 1, scholar
    +
    columm C - demand 2, hipster on boarding :)
