Grabbed the eBay mobo on Wednesday - Asus P5KPL-AM/PS and put it together yesterday. Used existing RAM, PSU, disks, GPU etc and it runs fine. Only issue is that the board has no fan connector so I need to get a 3 pin to molex adapter, no biggie.
Just waiting on delivery of a new modem from iiNet so I can run dpkg & also update to 64-bit as the included processor is an 8400 that will do that.
I also dual boot to XP but it freezes after the first screen due to the hardware change I think.
Again, I can use a recovery disk etc but just waiting for net access so I don’t need to double up on stuff.
    Cheers!

    Further update &*%$#

Finally got the new modem today. Ridiculous, took over a week :-( Get stuffed iiNet logistics and CRAP customer service.

PC was up and going for ages other than the graphic issue which I've come across before with Ubuntu and solved without too many dramas. It ran all weekend.

Plugged in new modem. Guess what? Same issue.

I'm thinking the modem cable was the conduit for the first surge. FML!!!!!
