ah well if its free.....
Watch people cry anti-competitive... even though there's free ones like AVG already.
that'll only happen if it's also bundled with the OS.
I thought it wasn't going to be free, just really cheap.
Windows Defender is bundled with vista so it wouldn't surprise me.
MS also gives us firewalls but we all use our own anyways?
There are too many botnet zombies and infected jackasses these days, IMO this is a good move however, from the protection ive seen offered by Microsoft, they are far from comprehensive at protecting people so i'm doubtfull how much this will actually the problem I believe they are trying to address.
Anyone else having flashbacks to MS Antivirus that came with DOS 6.x and worked with Windows 3.x?
lol, another thing that people (who dont know better) will be entrusting M$ to do for them.
Defender is possibly the worst anti-spyware program i have ever seen.
eg. it wont even allow Asus Probe to be added to the allow/ignore lists.
The firewall in XP/Server 03 isn't that good, but it's improved a lot in Vista/Server 08.
It's been pretty much rubbish since day 1.
It does a great job of slowing machines down!
And also mysteriously turning its self on to Automatic despite me disabling it...
The question is will it be as good as free ones like AVG or Avast???
I guess we will have to wait and see!
At least they shouldn't go deleting any of their own system files. Oh, wait up...
i know, that would be funny
Free now......to get people in......pay later?
I wonder if it will be fast and efficient.
It's microsoft, does that answer your question?
But seriously, let's wait and see how it performs in comparison to others.
They can't write their systems securely enough to avoid viruses yet they can release an anti-virus product?
What am I missing here?
