It's usually *in* asian grocers, you've just gotta look hard for it. Nondescript packaging that doesnt explicitly say MSG pretty often. Look for something that looks like a bag of salt. It's dirt cheap and lasts forever though.

EDIT - And if you put it in a container at home, make sure you label it, it looks identical to tablesalt lol

It's usually sold like this. The crystals are much longer than table salt. It's easily distinguishable.

Closeup of MSG. There's no way you can mistake this for Salt or Sugar.

The stuff I bought has very fine cystals.

Funny story, I bought a bottle of Bombay Sapphire and on the bottle was a recipe which was something like gin, soda water lemon juice and sugar.

I keep both sugar and MSG in ziplock bags in the cupboard...Trust me, MSG doesn't make everything better.

Sounds like a story. Did you try it on icecream or was it something R rated and fishy?

In Singapore you can find the salt size variation at fruit stores where you can sprinkle it on fruit.

I'm aware of the supposed health issues with MSG but never really researched it. Living in China I'm way more worried about other aspects of food than I am about MSG

Yes you can get salt in all kinds of sizes. And also MSG powders. But typical MSG vs table salt/sugar is very easy to tell which one is MSG due to the elongated crystals.
