The X68 board and chips wont be out until mid 2011 or later, so its at least 6 months away, I am not fussed for buying a 980X, its still gonna be the most powerful CPU available for a while yet.

Sadly still a long time before they are released.

The X58 platform is still getting new high-end processors and is going to be around for the majority of this year before the successor arrives.

Got my cpu in March 2010 and i dont think socket 2011 will be out until October to December this year so for a pc lifespan it was more than sufficent in my opinion:thumbup:

2 ram slots either side of the socket.... Interesting...

MSI must be confident in their enthusiast lineup. After showing the AM3+ BigBang Conquerer at CES and now 2011 boards 8 months+ before launch. Chuck in the Marshall s1155 and the lightning 6970 and 580's and they've got a solid lineup this year.

Don't forget a large portion of 980x owners are people who bench and the other people are ones that have disposable income and wouldn't be fussed upgrading to the latest and great most likely when it comes out.

By the time LGA 2011 comes out i'll of had my 980x for 18 months, that's the longest I have ever had the same processor running in my system:tongue:

And I won't upgrade until the octocore hit's anyway.........

The slots are the easiest thing to make out. Looks like 3x pci-e 16x All 3 should be full 16x 2.0 (bottom two from sb, top one from by cpu), at least 2 possibly 3 pci-e 1x and it looks like one pci, that that could be pci-e 8x.

But really all the interesting stuff is blurred to much. What was the point? It's like Morman porn.

If I had the cash to drop on a 980x about 9 months ago, I'd be happy I could finally get something faster.

I've got an x58 (i7-975) and if the budget allows I'll be going to LGA2011.
