    Hi all,
    running win7 x64 ultimate.

Got a new (2nd hand) USB keyboard
    Samsung Magic Station
    model# SDM4510UH (oldish 2002-2006 maybe?)

Multimedia (special) keys won't work! Arghh! Help! *^-^*

    Device manager hardware IDs shows:
    Code:
    Keyboard
    HID\VID_055D&PID_0001&REV_0002
    HID\VID_055D&PID_0001
    HID_DEVICE_SYSTEM_KEYBOARD
    HID_DEVICE_UP:0001_U:0006
    HID_DEVICE
    Code:
    human interface devices
    USB\VID_055D&PID_0001&REV_0002
    USB\VID_055D&PID_0001
currently it is running generic MS drivers

all regular keys work fine + both built in USB ports work very well
the multimedia (special) keys do nothing whatsoever
in winamp/foobar pressing them when setting global hotkeys doesn't even show a scancode

things I have tried so far:
searching for drivers for this keyboard - failed
searching for any 'magic station' keyboard drivers - failed
searching for any samsung desktop kb drivers for win7 - failed
took keyboard apart and checked it is physically ok inside - its ok
installed ms intellitype kb drivers - installed ok, but failed as no ms kb present
booted into ubuntu - same result as windows (but I'm a linux n00b)

Anyone got any ideas how I can get these multimedia keys working?
    Thanks!

    Edit:
    Tried WMP - failed.

Found zero kb drivers for any os. Found chipset drivers, d/l and extracted, but no KB driver present.

Thanks for your help so far everybody.

I remember fixing this years ago with a different keyboard,
one of the things I recall was getting some program that captured the scancodes of every keypress,
but I'm buggered if I can find that now.
Even if I did find it, probably won't fix the lack of driver. T-T

That link says the MM keys only work on win 95/98 and not on 2000 and above

    http://blog.daum.net/frdriver/597
That link has the download for the win95/98 drivers and says there are no drivers for win 2000 and above

I thought these USB keyboards had some kind of standard? T-T
Might have to give up on this. I have already configured scroll lock as play/pause on foobar2000.

I had a similar keyboard and those keys would only ever work with Windows media player.

Try searching for drivers for any version of windows.

I know it sounds a bit stupid/not needed but try using another keyboard or just buy another one.

    Right on both counts!
I think you were looking for this http://forums.overclockers.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=18

    Edit:
This kb is really nice for a non-mechanical kb.
It's got a big steel plate in it (not in the pic) that gives it a great solid feeling, and the keys on it bottom out really hard because of that, a feeling I really like.
I can't justify the cost of a mechanical kb, so this is a nice alternative.

    Edit:
    Steel plate FTW!
