I have a feeling it's an organic interface error.

This thread possibly has one of the most unusual titles I've ever encountered.

It's pretty rare that IE will take down Explorer in XP. What background applications are you running?

but the explorer does only crash when i'm closing an ie or opening and closing the favourites, history etc (the mini windows that is opened on the left side in the ie)
i got 39 things running at the background
    cant list all of them

Ok try the following. Go to Control Panel>Folder Options>View tab and tick the "Launch folder windows in a separate process"

This will at least allow XP to isolate the process which is causing the crash and you can usually CTRL-ALT-DEL and close the non-responding process/app. So your whole XP won't crash.

Next, strip down the number of processes and applications you have running in the background. Obviously one of them is causing problems in the Explorer.exe process. By doing what I've suggested above you can isolate its effects, but you still need to stop the source of the problem.

I have 13 processes running on XP Pro at bootup and that's with full functionality. Read my WinXP Guide for what to do from start to finish.

yeh i had kinda the same problem.. explorer/IE would crash everytime when i tried to use them. I found out the problem was Kazaa which i had running in the background. I got rid of it and everything works fine.

BTW my error was in webhook.dll

    well
on my one which time it crashes it displays a different .dll file
i think it might be the video studio that caused it
