Mythbuntu is both an instal or live use.
I've been using a mythbuntu 12 release for MANY years, rock solid (running in a VM with hdhomerun tuners).
Is shepherd still available?
Yeah. It's on github now.
Anybody running their shiny new Raspberry Pi 4 as a backend?
Wow, really? There's that much power in them? Awesome.
I finally got the new shepherd installed, it was trivial and I should have done it months ago, duur.
if you're not transcoding/ad detecting, there's not much grunt required, it's just writing an unmodified TS stream to storage.
I'm having some fun (trouble) with Myth so thought I'd mention it on here in case someone had experienced something similar.
Have been having some dropout issues and figured now would be a good time to do a fresh install and reload of DB. (Original install is from more tan 4 years ago)
Reinstall went fine. DB restore went o.k. Config logs good back in Myth.
When looking in the upcoming recordings however, there are no rules are listed.
Also, I can longer press "S" on the guide to record things.
I also appear to be unable start recording when I am watching TV, too.
i.e. pressing the "S" button to convert the live-tv into a recording.
Also if scheduling it as a recording, recording does not start.
(This may not be related to the recording rules going missing but thought it worth mentioning here)
If I run a select command against the "record" table then they all show up without issue.
Have done a DB rebuild but no issues were found.
Have also run the backend in debug mode but didn't see anything worthy of taking a second look.
FWIW am running backend under Ubuntu Server 18.04 and MariaDB for SQL. Myth reinstall was save version (v30).
Any ideas folks?
Did you remap your keys? I've always pressed R to record live TV.
Sorry yep. That should be an R to record (S to bring up the guide).
I originally thought it was just the key mapping not working.
I then noticed that if you press the menu key when viewing the guide and go on and schedule a recording from there, nothing gets set and it doesn't show up on the guide with a letter indicating that program is set to or currently recording. (Typically an "R" in the program guide).
That's... weird. Did a quick test on my 0.29 install and R is definitely working.
Can you do any recordings at all? Maybe the key is working, but something is preventing recording in general? Permissions to the Recording table? Disk?
Sorted it out.
I'm embarrassed to say it was due to there being no EPG successfully loaded (Shepherd) since the DB was restored. (You can't press "R" to record something that has no EPG!!)
Strange thing was that the guide initially appeared but after going back to it after posting here, it was gone.
The kicker that made me realise what when I Saw that previous recording rules were there but no upcoming recordings were shown.
It's always something simple.
Hey all, can anyone recommend an antenna repair company in Brisbane? None of my digital TV or PlayTV tuners can get a signal, and the person I used to have my antenna installed eight years ago seems to have gone out of business!
There are tons of antenna repair businesses around Brisbane, I would love to hear your experience with any of them!
Used these guys many years ago. They quoted over the phone, took a bit longer than he had thought but stuck to the original quote. They were excellent then but no guarantee they are good now but they still get good google reviews fwiw. In Red Hill.
Played phone tag a bit, Brendon is coming this afternoon at 4pm!
You won't be repairing an antenna, you might have yours re-oriented but more than likely replaced.
You're right The Brad, the antenna didn't require repairing, but the booster had died and needed to be replaced!
Brandon came right on 4pm, smashed out the job and was done! I recommend Brandon from "Local Bloke Antenna Services", he was great!
Not sure what happened but having heaps of problems with VDPAU playback in the master branch for the past 3-4 months.
So I replaced my aging two frontends (Q6600 and Core2D) with a AM6 Plus android box (replaced Q6600) and a Pi4/4GB (Core2D). It's amazing how things have miniaturized, become cheaper and more powerful in just a decade or so.
The Pi4 with the ArgonONE case is simply amazing. This case appears to allow for a IR LED but I can't seem to find any documention/reference on how to do that yet.
Still undecided if I should use the MythTV App or Kodi with the MythTV plugin. Love my new setup, and can finally do some uncluttering.
Does mythtv support nvdec? vdpau's kinda deprecated after all, ffmpeg's run way better with nvdec for quite a while now (especially for high bitrate 4k stuff using hevc or vp9)
