    I'd have to think they'd make more money in the long run from additional eShop purchases as well as the hardware purchases.

    Current way will make them money yes, but they really aren't good products compared to what they can be producing with technology these days.

    Nintendo and technology aren't the best of friends though. :p Personally I would kill for a Switch type device that has access to all of Nintendo and Sega's back catalogue with a unified ID, so I can play and continue the same game on my 3DS (hardware limited of course).

    Maybe after all this Classic Mini business is over and they have proven its a good area to make money this might actually happen.

    In my experience, Nintendo take about 10 years to catch on to any good idea well after the rest of the mainstream market.

    Given that the mainstream market still hasn't figure out how to properly sell emulation, we're still a whiles off yet.
