So basically, i've been trying to do some covers and bought a pretty decent mic and sound interface..

However i cant seem to get the EQ and compression right for my vocals..

Any suggestion where i can learn more about this?

here's my test run on a cover:

Sounds fine to me! Listened though Yammy MSP5's at work.

I'm sure there's plenty of guides out there to help shape your vocal sound but I don't think there's any real right or wrong way to EQ vocals.. its just whatever you think sounds best against the rest of the mix

There's a bit of clipping in there, and you need to compress it more.

Did you apply any reverb or is that the natural resonance of the room? I don't like it - you're sitting next to a big ole' glass wall which won't help. Can you hang some cloth or curtains over the glass?

edit: Listen to your cover of Georgia on my Mind and then this one - this recording sound quite flat & tinny in comparison. Again, tighten the compression up and fiddle with the EQ. Have you gated it at all? I would suggest it.
