I've been waiting for someone to do a teardown. Details are finally released:

Quite unsurprising. People were hoping for an FPGA clone of the NES, similar to the RetroUSB AVS:

I doubted Nintendo would go as far as that, especially given their previous investment in ARM hardware in everything from the Gameboy Advance and up, and likewise their investment in emulation for virtual console.

The US prices include individual state taxes or did you go and enter zip codes for exact pricing?

Heard someone say this was powered via micro USB? Im assuming my iphone charger and a micro USB cable will be enough?
Going to run it on my desk with a PC monitor ftw :)

Yep. Actually I have read that the USB port on your tv will do the trick. It comes with a cable as well.

So with the original controllers I guess we'll have to be about 3 feet in total from whatever screen we're playing on!

That was inevitable. Big W have been a huge Nintendo sales outlet in this country since forever.

I know EB like to maintain the illusion that they have some sort of special powers, but Nintendo understand that to sell to minors, you need to target parents.

I'm perfectly okay with that :p

By the time I showed the Mrs that we could go back to playing Bubble bobble together, the pre-orders had all gone. She'll be happy with this news indeed :p

You will probably have to fight off a vicious horde of ebay scalpers though. It would probably look a bit like this:

That really bugs me. I hope there's enough supply of this to make the scalpers lose out on this one.

If I ever bother to get one I'll well and truly wait until the hype dies down - let's face it the games are what 30 years old, reckon I can wait a bit. :)
