It's a question of whether OP is happy having OS and only 2 or 3 games installed at any one time. If you have super fast internet this may not be an issue.

Frankly a 120GB SSD for OS is plenty but a decent HDD (2TB+) is a must.

generally I dont play loads of games at once, So to have a few core games like star craft 2, cs:go, and C&C generals installed wont take up too much space, then I can just rotate big titles.

I will have player unknown installed for sure which will keep me busy until a new title takes its place, should leave me with plenty of room, and I can also upgrade later in life if I see fit no problem

...only comment i have is that ryzen 1600 is best value....so +1 for that.
    & 1070 is a great card.
as for the screen - 1440p

i'm all ears, as im looking for 27" but the one im looking at is 780$ the most expensive part of the rig...so i dunno.

that dell screen linked above looks like great value....1440p at 24" will look very sharp

I think 1440p @ 144hz is where its at, though I do alot of FPS so depends what you play

should get away with it just remember:

    starcraft 2 + expansions = 50gig
    player unknown = 30gig
    cs:go = 10gig
    C&C generals = 2gig
    windows + office + others = 30gig

so you're left with about 100gig which sounds like a lot but can get eaten up fairly quick with page files, new games, updates, iTunes back ups etc

but hard drives are only going to get cheaper and you could pick up a 2nd hand 500gig or 250gig SSD in 6 months or so if you find your self struggling for room

got the system, everything going well

handles PUBG well, everything on ultra runs super smooth

my driver for the 1070 is up to date, but the bios on the mobo seems to be factory

i have a quick question regarding it

    https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350M-GAMING-PRO.html

do i download the latest 'driver' (select windows 10/64 its a 1gig 'driver') for the amd chip set or do i download the 'AMI BIOS'

    or.... both?

    unfamiliar waters here!

and again guys, thanks for all your help!

Glad to hear your happy with the system.

You need to download both AMI BIOS update as well as the AMD Chipset driver.

The AMI BIOS is a update for your mother board BIOS.

The AMD Chipset Driver is a driver update that windows will use.

About to take the plunge on a new system myself... 1600 paired with a 1060/1070.

    Now to decide between 1080 @ 144hz or 1440 @ 60fps....

A 1060 will struggle to do either with out lowering graphics settings a shit load (aka what's the point)

1080p 60Hz or 1440p 60hz. As cool as 144hz is I have no troubles not using it in games and my scores are the same. It will force a higher level of GPU.

Actually the biggest benefit of high Hz is it is easier on your eyes doing mundane shit. That I appreciate the most.

yea decided to go down the 1440p route.

I'm not sure why people say that 1060 6gb will struggle at 1440? My GTX 970 4GB did fine with CSGO and Dota2...

Maybe get yourself a good wireless gamepad too, so you don't miss some of the PS4 action :)

install something like witcher 3 or mass effect andromeda or any newer more demanding game and see how it goes. if all your playing are two source engine games you might as well have just stuck with the 970. might just be me but i couldn't call 35fps playable anymore

Only reason I gave up my 970(and entire PC) was because I made the move to Australia from NZ lol.

But yea pretty much exclusively play CSGO and Dota2 and the odd BF1 its just I have an issue with dealing with anything other than 60FPS+ on those 2 games

Wow, didn't realise there was so much diff going from the 980 to the 1080, which is what I've done recently. Huge.

If 27" go no lower that 1440p
    For a 24" 1080p is okay
