Landlord just gave the approval to make the fences more secure, and that I'm allowed to have her inside (was going to anyway) :D

So will start crate training as soon as I have her. She won't be allowed on the bedroom carpet.

I will give you 1 week. And she will be the master of the house... and walk on all the carpets :)

    Yay! Tilly's coming home!
(hey, just thought that that's another reason you can't go to the middle of nowhere for Christmas lunch. You can't leave her alone all day, and you can't make her take a long drive when the poor little mite gets sick in the car.)

1 hour! So close! And not going with Tilly :D

Going to go with Scout or Sophie (thinking Sophie, cause it's GORGEOUS!).

Just got through buying some accessories. Don't particularly know which food to go with though?

Puppy food says upto 24 months, but adult food you can give them at 1 year old? I ended up buying a bag of 'Baxters' puppy food to try (just a small 1kg bag) to see how she goes with it.

Recommendations on brand? Not going to get any specialised/diet specific food).

My art teacher had dog called Scout, I drew his picture. Sophie's a nice name.

Get any food, when it's on special. (big dogs are more likely to still need puppy food when they are 2 because they keep growing longer than little dogs). She's still basically a puppy, so puppy food's ok.

So the past 20 minutes has been her not doing much, and me checking on what she's doing :D

Still not keen on the backyard, as I've realised she's a jumper (clears 1 metre easily) so tomorrow will be spent fencing a particularly section of the yard, as I would like her to be able to stay outside during the day.
    Just need something secure.

You'll need to *really* dog proof your yard! JR's are extreme escape artists including under, over and through!

Yeah, we used tent pegs to make sure the fencing stayed down, and that it couldn't be pulled up, but it's only 1ish metres high. So I'm going to double up some fencing and make it 2metres...

You could also get a dog run for when you have to go out.

That would be an option. I could make one relatively easy myself...

You can get them prefab. My chooks have one as their run. If you mesh the top, Sophie won't be able to go anywhere.

Problem is I won't need it forever... The house I'm moving to has a fully enclosed back yard (colourbond fence).

Just need something to last until then.

Baxters has a mega history of recalls and sick dogs.

Just go the standard blackhawk lamb & rice for puppies or advance etc.

So I switched to Optimum (mostly because it was one of the cheaper ones on sale and had some reasonable reviews online that I was happy with). But she's not eating much. Not wet nor dry. I've just taken to leaving the dry food there for her to have when she's hungry, but the wet food gets put in when I have my dinner.
    Hit and miss so far.

Tonight, she's been quite... protective, of both mytself and the house. Practically trying to restrict what I can do, where I go, and generally possessive.

Fairly sure it's because the neighbours dog has gotten into the yard.

Do NOT let her boss you. Whatever her reasons, don't let her do that.

As for the food, don't worry about it. She's probably a bit stressed with her change in environment, and she's so tiny, so don't expect her to get through much.

She's fine, it's you and your "iron resolve" that's dodgy :D
