Optus are having problems at the moment it seems.

My speed went from about 400kbps down to 100-160kbps.

Whingepool has allot of talk about it.

Dunno how long it will last.

No plan change here as my dad really doesn't want to move and get screwed over from what we have as to him 'It Works' and that we will loose all our bonuses as we pay about $46 a month for the 20/40 plan package with phone.

When I purchased the modem, I installed it myself. The installation itself is quite simple - detach the existing cables from the old modem, attach them to the new modem. However, I did have to call Optus Tech Support because they had to do something from their end to recognise my use of a 'new' modem.

As for my connection speed this morning:

It's a marked improvement from yesterday.

Yeah, they have to provision the modem, that means updating their system to use your modems new mac and serial address, your speeds look good now =D, I might call Optus up asking for a new modem and go on a another contract with them if I have to.

I'm currently on the $99 fusion plan
If I switch to one of these plans, would I be able to keep internet plus phone costs about the same?
I mean total cost per month (phone line rental etc)

Or are there any other landline plans that have unlimited local calls like what's in the fusion plan?

Hmmm this is good news for me!

We've been sussing out new internet plans recently because this 7/14 plan with Optus we've been on for the last 2 years is getting pathetic.

I wish I had seen this earlier!

I think it's *slightly* more than what we pay at the moment, but it's a decent plan at long last.

edit: If I switch to it this afternoon, will it be instant? Or will I have to wait until my next rollover on June 1 :( ?

My net seems to still be the same. Performance-wise anyway.

    Good deals from Optus.

I am thinking of putting this in a place I need to use the net. Currently have iinet connection there and get around 3mb on speedtest. Is there anyway of checking what sort of speed will be available at a specific location?

lol we are in the same boat, do your speeds go back to normal at around 10 pm as mine does? I guess there's nothing we can do about these speeds cause of our overpopulated exchanges which sucks...
