    Howdy,

Well im currently in Bangkok at the moment and was at panthip today looking at netbooks. Long story short, I picked up the new HP Mini 311-1005TU.

Picked it up for 24000 Baht ($800 AUD)

    This model includes

    11.1" 1366x768
    Atom 1.66
    N-Vidia ION GPU
    3G WWAN,BT,WiFi
    160gb
    3gb Ram
    6 Cell Battery

I know that this is a very new model so i thought I would share my new perchase with you and see if I can answer any questions you may have about the netbook.

From the quick play I have had already, this thing rocks !

I'm desperate for an Ion netbook but would love to see some performance figures :)

    Very jealous!

seeing as it still runs an atom, it would most likely suck wouldnt it?

the via nano is what you want to be comparing to the low power core 2 solo :)

i guess the ion gives the graphics grunt that you dont need in a netbook though :p

Who said you dont need it?!

I'm about to travel for 9 months and will be living and working in some places for a months at a time. As such all I will be travelling with is a netbook. I don't expect or need it to be a powerhouse, but I would love one that can play the occasional game and allow me to watch HD video - both of which cannot be done on the current netbooks...

well if i need power i'll use my travelmate 6292

where i need extreme portability, silence and battery life i take my aspire one 751H

i cant see any reason why you would need to watch HD video on a netbook - all my downloaded TV and DVD rips look beautiful and play perfectly well on my 751H with the intel graphics accelerator 500.

but i guess to the dude who fills his netbook HDD with 1080p MKVs, heres the netbook for you.

    Are u seriously that dumb?

I need extreme portability - I'm travelling the world with nothing more than a backpack.

I'm not going to take 2 notebooks with me, nor am i going to take a full sized notebook. Therefore I need a netbook and would still like some power. While I'm away and living in London I'd like to be able to boot up a game of HON and chill out for a bit.

Also, while I don't really watch much HD video I'd like to be able to stream in you tube HD occasionally or watch Hulu while I'm living in New York. The quality of regular youtube videos is poor, even on a netbook. Further, when I get home I wont have a proper system for a few months while I get settled back in. I plan to connect the netbook to a 22" LCD for a while and will at that point be needing to play HD video, etc

Is it really that difficult to grasp when these ION netbooks would come in useful?

Sounds like an awesome beast. I just don't agree with this trend of larger & larger monitors on 'netbooks.' They might as well be called ultra-light laptops.

I agree. A 10" screen max with a better resolution would be nicer to see than an 11" lcd.

That said, this does look very nice.

For what it's worth, people are playing TF2 in DX8.1 mode on the N10Jc's.

Yep, they're a beautiful thing. Especially overclocked to 2GHz.

If the N10Jc had a x768 res screen, i'd have kept mine.

They play Cod4 nicely too :)

Wait for October 22 for the windows 7 release. I might retire my Trusty Insprion13 for this.
