I'm trying to research the new sata III controllers.

So far I have discovered Areca 1880 and LSI 9265. Do you guys know any other new cards on the market or on the horizon?

Personally I'd recommend the LSI 9265 or the 9260. Is there anything in particular you wanted to know about these cards?

IBM BR10i cards will do SATA3 with the right firmware (SATA2/3 vs SATA1/2) if all you need is Raid1 or Raid0.

Thinking of getting a raid card, either an Adaptec 6805 ($685) or LSI 9265-8i ($1135). Is it worth spending more to get the LSI?

    Any advice would be appreciated

Same with Adaptec in my experience. But you will find that with most 'enterprisey' vendors.

Check out highpoints rocketraid series, pretty sure they have sata/sas 3 controllers which will do raid0/1 quite well
