    Would if I had one floating around. Unfortunately my only other 8 series card I've got is broken :(
    Anyone else here game to try? Would be good to know, then it could be ppu's for everyone!

    Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I wanted to thank Feartec and everyone else that posted about this and provided links. This saved me some time and money.

    I recently got an Intel SR1400 server pretty cheap(dual 3ghz, 4gig DDR2 ECC, extra SCSI card) and I'm turning it into a video editing box, and wanted a video card a bit more modern then the 8mb Rage XL that is on board. Thanks to this post, a $12 PCIe riser, and a few tools I should be running a Radeon HD 4870 in no time :)

    It'll be :
    dual 3Ghz XEON 64bit
    4 gigs DDR2 ECC Dual channel
    SATA RAID1 (chunk video storage)
    SCSI (OS drive){Windows 7 64 bit}
    SCSI (program drive){CS4, etc.}
    SCSI (Virtual Memory)
    IDE (Scratch)
    Radeon HD 4870 512mb

    Thanks again for the great mod!:thumbup:

    Reviving an old thread hey...

    Anyway, yeah I've done this to a couple of cards, cut x16 cards back to fit in an x1 slot... of which they still work.:leet:
