Obviously its adsl, cable has never been available as 512kbit.

Edit: Correction, atleast in this century.

    Peak Allowance (7am - 1am): 40GB
    Off Peak Allowance (1am - 7am): 110GB
    Shaping: 128Kbit

    hmmmm
    very small window.
Stupid people in whingepool saying things about only babysitting people will be able to use that.

Provided we get good speeds and TPG doesn't slow us down due to their "inferior" infrastructure then I reckon we can churn 110 GB easily :D

And for those who don't know how to do it in the window. It is called windows scheduler and/or downloading programs. Just set it to start. And terminate. Simple.

Actually cable on "unlimited" plans at one time was limited to 400kbit , then upped to 512kbit download speeds.

I think most people will require a 2nd phone line if they want to stay online and be able to use their home phones. anyone have any clue how much phone rental is roughly?

Ermmm ADSL shares the unused sections of the phone line allowing it to be connected and you to make phone calls at the same time. Phone line rental ranges from $20 up, the sky is the limit with telstra!

Just need to make sure you run a line filter if you are sharing the line. Kudo's to TPG, i might feel a churn going on.

Oh ic, so bascially i can have ingoing + outgoing calls with no hassles even when im on adsl2?
I also want to check that, there will be no difference in performance if i use 1 line instead of a dedicated phone line for it.
    Cheers

There is a ADSL2+ dslam and ports in the local exchange just crippled to the ADSL 1 specs via software, by Telstra.

I'd be really tempted to switch to this plan as TPG offer full speed ADSL 2 in my area and the only thing stopping me from changing earlier is the inconvinience of swapping from Bigpond Cable to and ADSL setup but for 2x the bandwidth @ 1/2 the price and 2x the speed I can't complain.

I hope some of you guys don't get sucked into downloading (more) illegal content.

The ISP has every right to terminate your connection immediately if this is what you're doing.

Careful leechers, a lot (if not all) ISPs are already doing this.

I was saying this very thing to my mates two days ago.

You watch. They'll (Telstra) will wait for the most opportune time and then "suddenly" announce that everyone everywhere can get adsl2+, because they have upgraded the exchanges on the sly and have just neutered them like they did with adsl. Just wait for it, they'll run a huge campaign revolving around the fact that they'll be able to provide everyone with adsl2+ while their "competitiors" can only do selected areas.
