I went on the New Years cruise around the islands. Got pretty loose at times.

Pic from just after midnight NYs.

edit: On the Dawn Princess. Nice ship, not too big, not small at all. Good club. Lots of drinking.

@ Reanimated35, best holiday ever ay! Lots to do, food was best I reckon.

edit again: Just read your little rant lol. I'm 18 and my brother's 20, we found heaps of people our age, and our parents almost felt out of place being ~55ish. New Years cruise is the way to go for young cruisers. It's my second one, first I was younger and couldn't drink but still had fun. Because it's around the islands (fiji, etc), all the chicks just tan all day and so yea everyone's looking pretty good.. I'm going again, jsut with my bro next time when I turn 21.

Anyone have photos of the waterslide that used to run into the Lido Pool before the re-model? I only managed to find small ones online. And also if anyone has shots from the rest of the ship, please share.

the crew told us most of the younger people now go on the 7night cruises. This was my 3rd cruise. Pacific Sky, Pacific Star and now Pacific Sun. Just the dawn and the Jewel to go to complete the Brisbane fleet. Just a heads up for anyone going on a cruise... if you are under 21 you are not allowed to travel without someone over 21 in the same room as you during november and december.

7 night cruises ay, I'll have to check them out. Other ship I was on was Pacific Sky. Dawn Princess was a BIG step up in presentation, though food/service was equal.

We organised to have a parent per kid, but then we just swapped around so my parents could have their own room. The cabin steward didn't care, he even had individual beds set up for my brother and I.

Took me a good while to notice the guy standing on the anchor... Might have been worth a closer shot?

lol, i was focusing more on getting both ships in the image. i do have an old photo somewhere around of the them painting the anchor on either the Star or the Sky though. i'll try to find it.

Well this one for 2 people cost around $5000 (14 nights). Now when you consider that includes accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner all cooked for you with a variety of food (except drinks), all entertainment (except casino, arcade), it's a pretty decent price. Best time of year varies depending on where you want to go. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather until the last 3 days of the cruise which were overcast and wet, but that didnt matter as we were at sea anyway.

Ours was a 12 night cruise through fiji, vanuatu, new caledonia. Cost about $2.5-3k each I think. I'm only young, so I wouldn't go on anything but a New Years cruise if I was going on another 5 star ship.

Though I've heard that the Pacific Sky/Star are a little more youth based, so cater for a younger crowd more times throughout the year.

Sky was sold off a couple of years ago leaving the Sun as the last of their "FunShips" but after all the negative publicity regarding that campaign, the Sun went in for a refit and there is now less youth based. In saying that however, there were some teens and kids on board that were kept so busy by their organised activities, you would hardly ever see them at all.

hmm, turns out that close up anchor photo must have been from the Sky, i only have the Star pics here, the rest are at my parents place.

More pics in a few minutes

We did all our sightseeing through tours organised on the ship so it was all paid for in advance. Just checked their website though and its $29 NZD for adults. It's definitely worth it. Im putting a video onto youtube very soon that shows the ride through the penguin enclosure.

there wasnt really any rough seas at all sorry. However, the water in the pool notices the seas quite a lot more than people do. A video will also be on youtube soon.
