    Hey,

Just found this on twitterland and thought I would share. If this is so, i'd definitely be making the switch (However I am already sold on switching to Nikon)

I would buy it instantly (providing that its cost isn't crazy). Nikon's new lenses are amazing but I dislike them on crop.

Potential cash cow if done correctly by Nikon. Hell, I'd buy one, or two, or nine.

This would be interesting to see what the prices will be. Then factor in all the prices to change all the lenses too if I decide to switch over.

Can't wait to see what the actual specs of this thing will be.

If it does video and 1080p clean HDMI output, I will regret purchasing the D800, haha.

Yeps but they have been talking long about how they were going to shuffle up the line up. The d800 simply doesnt look to be the d700 replacement.

With the d300s due a refresh.. its interesting to see what the final lineup will be.

Yeah I have my doubts about this too - something tells me they would cannibalise a lot of their D800 sales by doing this. Price point is a tough one as well, it's need to be closer to $2K than $3K to get people to buy one instead of it's bigger brother.

about time canikon brought a real enthusiast camera to the market ... how much would u pay for this? 1.5 to 2k?

this would be a killer camera imho... all they gotta do is use the d4 sensor in a d800 body and find a way to make it around 1.5k .. instant camera LOL.

i also think nikonrumors is generally very good and reliable... generally gets most rumors right!

Doesn't seem like something nikon would do. More likely to make it a d700s by adding video to the original body.

Nikon could overhaul their product development strategy and continue selling the D700 albeit at a much lower price.

instead of replacing d700 or making a 'd700s', whatever is gonna come out will be more of a continuation of the d100/d200/d300 line i reckon

FF D4 sensor based cam would retail for $2.5 to $3k I think, you're dreaming if they would even consider $1.5 to $2k, that's D7000 territory.

assuming they are even considering releasing something like this then I would consider it for a backup.

Assuming it exists, I can't see why it can't be the same price as the current D800. They're different cameras and ppl buy the one that's relevant to their needs. A little like the D3x and D3s variants.

Perhaps we'll see something like this in the long run:

    D800 and D4x as high MP studio/landscape
D600 and D4 as high speed high ISO

    Some more updated specs here;

    http://nikonrumors.com/2012/05/23/newupdated-nikon-d600-specifications.aspx/#more-39666

And we "might" see some more info in the next few days.

I am really thinking hard about a D800, but I might wait as I reckon this is a better fit for me.

I doubt this rumour is true, but if it is i will wait for canon to offer something similar and buy that.

how can it have 97% coverage for DX? what does a DX lens usually look like through the finder of an "FX" Nikon?
