I don't know if poor quality (sometimes to the point of safety compromise - e.g. minimal physical isolation between the high voltage and low voltage sides) is still a thing with some cheap Chinese wall warts. I would assume so.

So caveat emptor in that respect. It's kids with handhelds and phones constantly in physical contact that tend to get hit on those rare occasions that a dodgy wall wart goes nuclear and enlivens a metal case or other such nasty outcome.

Yeah that's my worry too. I might buy the official power supply and get the Chinese TV connector.

    Oh nice! Cheers.

I bought one but refused to use it after I heard aftermarket ones are bricking switches. Not sure if so and if how prevalent.

I went with the second hand official one from GamesMen. This whole "bricking" thing is insane.

Sadly the "U" in "USB" is meant to stand for "Universal", but more and more I'm seeing USB power standards fragment, and expensive devices get blown up because "smart" chips aren't.

2019 and we still can't get standards right.

Yeah kinda nuts we’ve got rid of all the different proprietary plugs but now you can kill a device by plugging in the wrong type of the single plug type!

Silly question, but do you plug this into the switch then plug official charger into the USB-C port on this and then HDMI from this to monitor/tv etc?
How do you rest the switch since i thought there were air vents on the back? Face down?

i plug in the HDMI and switch power adaptor into the dongle, then the USB C into the switch. the switch just lies on its back on the table. the vents are on the top, not the back...

ive got it in a crystal case too so theres enough clearance on the bottom for those intakes to get air.

Ah, didn't realise they were intakes but yes those are the ports i mean.

Mines lacking a case and tbh i cant even recall how flat it sits, but i like the idea since i wanted to hook mine up to the PC monitor recently only to discover that it doesn't video out even using the original dock if you're not using the official charger

There's reports of a major issue that's surfaced from a bug in the auto-save introduced in Pokemon Sword/Shield. The bug can cause console/SD card data loss.
