Similar concept to the IFX-14-140 from Thermalright, but a lot beefier!

Noctua today officially presented its long-awaited NH-D14 premium CPU cooler! The NH-D14 will be available by mid-November at a recommended retail price of EUR 74.90 / USD 84.90.

    Full product details here: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=34&lng=en

It's very pretty, and knowing Noctua it'd be almost silent, but..

    ...so BIG.

Was the strength of the motor hub actually a problem? Unless they've got it spinning ridiculously fast I would have thought that standard plastic was fine.

nvm lol looks beastly! but that would be huge since its bigger than the normal 120mm hsf combination.

I could of swore I've seen this at another convention last year.. I wonder why they still haven't released it if they had it a year ago..
Although I could be imagining things :p

Think I read in another article that they plan to shave 4-10 degrees off of the top HSF at the moment.. Should be very interesting :D

Might settle for this rather then the H50 from Corsair, then again the Corsair H50 is 10 times smaller, and quieter

This thing would never fit on my ex58 UD4P, even my current U12P comes REALLY close to overhanging the ram slots.

I feel your pain with the UD4, i got the EVGA 3x SLI and its the opposite, the fan conflicts with the heat sink in the other side of the mobo.
None the less, i need that heat sink.

This will flop, as all huge coolers like this have.

I would tend to agree, however I will reserve my opinion until I see a hands-on review of the product. If it still performs almost as well with only the center fan attached then it could catch on...I have my doubts though.

The colour isn't something that is appealing for most, but when you see that colour, you know what brand it is :D

    i dont care about color.

you only care when your silly enough to have one of those childish perspex windows on the case with the obnoxious lighting.

soon kids will start putting smoke machines inside thier pc's and a small disco floor

I think it would be fine with ram that doesn't have protruding heatsinks on it (i'm using OCZ platinum which is fine with my IFX14 and 3x 140mm fans on a UD4P).

BTW for reference my IFX-14 does obstruct slot 2 on the x58 UD4P board... but just clears slot 1 (by maybe <1mm) so you could probably use ram with heatsinks with IFX-14 - but this noctua heatsink looks even bigger :)

Given that we already have an abundance of high end air coolers in the market, do we really need something like this? Sure, it would be nice if it trumps the likes of the TRUE but if it's at the expense of an increase in size and price, then no thank you.

    ...What a great idea! :D
