Wow i didnt think i had to keep starting these threads :p

    http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_5800_xpressmusic_hits_it_off-news-612.php

I now know nothing about any future lineup :upset:

So its not supposed to be an iphone killer, they're going for a younger market who isnt so into having a smartphone. Should be cheap too.

Its the birth of S60 touch and also S60 5th edition

    Comments?

    should be cheap too.

my old phone died (n5500) and so i've just bought a temp replacement. its non smart phone ........... im dying the amount of stuff you can't do is crazy.

anyways hopefully it'll land say, 500-600 outright? (you can get e71 for 499 outright now...) so after a while it will drop nicely. i can see myself having one for sure

yeah, i take that as being aimed where it will do the most damage so to speak

it will still be readily available elsewhere, just at a later date

    id say 5-600 is fair

The N96 is a flop, shame the Symbian will be the downfall to the 5800 due to it's immaturity.

I love the look and the specs of this phone. I also like the guitar pick on the handstrap for quick screen touching. I want blue.

What's the deal with the 1yr of free music downloads? That seems too good to be true. It's from the Nokia music site, which has limited tracks, is that right?

Hmmm, I likey! I'm a fan of Nokia phones and have been waiting for something like this.

Only thing missing is an email app (from what I can see). I'd have to see it in physical action first and play with it before purchase though, the resistive touch screen instead of capacitive should be ok except maybe for fast typing of SMS.

    EDIT:

After watching the videos and checking the specs out online I am VERY interested in this phone. Apart from no capacitive it seems to do everything that i want in a phone (although a 32db SDHC capacity would be nice. So only thing worrying me would be the navigation and ease of use, features-wise it has everything I could want.

Thats for real. Apparently its DRM stuff but after 1yr its yours to keep. Not sure whats on the Nokia music site.

Main costs will still be paying data charges to carriers.

Nokia is trying to fight back against the iphone/itunes gorilla.

No it doesn't. If the phone your using has built in GPS receiver then there is no need for a data connection. You will initial need a internet connection for the purchase of subscription to the Nokia Map service.

Errmm, Symbian has been around for a few years now, it's very capable and stable nowdays. Not sure why you are suggesting it's immature?

Yeah, symbian handsets have been around for 8+ years, in many forms, and versions.

I always buy symbian S60 phones these days.

But maybe he means the immaturity of the new touch screen 5800 version of symbian; Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5

Does this have dual touch sensitive screen?

In fact, do any phones have a dual touch screen apart from the iPhone?

That review has completely sold me.

I'll be buying one of these the instant it comes out, and it better be pretty damn soon 'cause my 6300 is screwing up after only 8 months or so!
