Reviews say the 820 is every bit as good but not quite as good camera.

Its a great deal lighter and a bit smaller too.

    Pretty much this.

The screen isn't as nice to touch but that's probably the least of the "problems" you'd have with comparing the two. Both can do wireless charging, the 820's camera in dark can also do very well. The 920's is just a little more tuned.

Both have very good build quality.

Argh, managed to get through 2 months with a couple of drops and no real damage, but today the screen had enough and went crack. Thankfully it's only cosmetic (touchscreen still works fine, no damage to the LCD) and limited to the top third of the screen. Certainly doesn't look as bad as most of the cracked iPhones I see!

I checked out a guide on how to open up the 920 a little while ago, and it looks pretty straightforward, so I'm going to order a new digitizer for about $60 delivered. Still kicking myself for not buttoning up my top pocket though. :upset:

The glass is glued to the LCD. I read replacing just the glass/digitiser isn't that doable...?

The whole assembly costs about $160.

Alternatively just imagine the background has a novelty cracked effect :p

I do feel your pain though. Mine lasted 4 days.

Just removed my screen protector, the top covers the proximity sensor on the phone and when making phone calls i constantly have a black screen, cannot hang up calls, can't do anything while on a call as it thinks the phone is against my face.

Wonder if there is a protector specifically designed with this in mind for Nokia Lumia 920.

Get a stanley knife and cut that bit off. Its just on the right of the mini camera.

I tried but got massive bubbles after that, so i just got a new protector before and got them to cut of that piece at the top before fitting it, works fine now.

I bought this during christmas: http://www.xtremeguard.com/Nokia-Lumia-920-Pureview-Screen-Protectors-p/lumia-920-screen-protector.htm#.UP9SQCcqYwA

The Full body shield and its been great covers the phone completely. Screen protector is properly cut for the 920's curved screen.

Difficult, but not impossible. Requires a heat gun and patience.

Then again, I'm considering just replacing the whole assembly to make my life easier, and keeping the LCD panel as a spare or selling it on eBay.

Edit: $60 for a digitizer alone, or $120 for the assembly. At that price I'm very much leaning towards the whole assembly deal.

    what did the update do?

I am on the verge of purchasing this phone after optus let me out of contract due to coverage problems I was having.

does the wireless charger come with the 920 - I notice it is an addon for the 820?

    Cheers

Charger is built in on the 920, you'll need the charging case for the 820... neither come with the wireless docking station.

Fixed a few stability issues, as well as improvements to the camera which was appearing a bit grainy in bright sunlight.

Good news for Telstra 920 owners too - it fixes the 160 character MMS issue! Going over 160 characters now sends multiple messages instead of converting the message to MMS.

    Does it just automagically update?

To all Nokia 920 Telstra users at same time?

As far as I know, it's available to all users right now, but your phone may not check for updates automatically for a couple of days. Mine hadn't picked it up this morning, but when I went to the phone update menu and tapped "check for updates", it found the update and prompted me to download it.
