    Hey Guys,

    My girlfriend is looking for a new laptop or ultrabook (she's quite taken by the size of the ultrabooks).

    What she mostly wants to get out of it is;

    Long battery life.
    HD screen (or high quality screen)
    Powerful (so responsiveness, perhaps using an SSD)
    USB 3.0
    Backlit keyboard
    13inch screen.

    So far i'm looking at Samsung, ASUS and Toshiba Laptops because i know they're pretty good quality. I know a Macbook Pro would be ideal, but they're also over priced for the hardware so i was wondering if there were other equivalent machines.

    Are other brands just as good as ASUS/Toshiba/Samsung? I've had bad experiences with HP, has their quality improved? What machines are out there that meet all those requirements?

    Cheers guys :)

    Thinner than most laptops even with the 13 hour battery.

    Seconded.

    You should ask what your girlfriend will be doing mostly with her machine to begin with.

    o_O looking at the now, it's good because she's liked a couple of Sony's from everything we're looked at.

    Just basic things, little light gaming, movies, email, facebook etc.

    we had a look at some macs, but she wants windows (i know you can boot into windows) but yeah... she thinks you have to buy all your software to go on it, because it doesn't come with it, but i said it's the same with windows.

    She's gotta stop listening to the I.T guys at work :rolleyes:
