There is a SHIT load more money in the low end.

Go look at the steam surveys about how many low end cards... 13% of all steam users still use a 1060. There always been bugger all money in the top end.

Same here. I am not even considering my 2080 Ti based on some marketing talk from AMD.

40% isnt that big enough jump over a 1k usd card imho.
If you have anything older or slow though then go for it.
its also gonna be %50+ more expensive because of wuhan panick

Panic starting to set in with 2080 Ti owners. Starting to see lots in the For Sale forum to recoup $$$ before 3000 series hits and not have their card value halved overnight.

But we won't see 3000 series for another 3 months so I doubt 2080Ti prices are gonna drop before that.

Yeah but smart 2080Ti owners would be foolish to wait right up until mid-year to sell their cards, as the more leaks and rumours that come out, the more their cards de-value. It's the normal CPU/GPU cycle when new models are imminent.

What do they replace them with though? downgrade to something that won't lose value for 3 months and just put up with the drop in fps and detail? I good deal of 2080ti owners will probably just hold onto them after the new gen is dropped and that doesn't make them un-smart.

and shhhh, I wanna score a cheap 2080ti

Exactly this. There's been a handful of these exact for sale or trade threads.

Downgrade to a 2070 or something which will still drop in value... but no way near as much as the flagship 2080ti.

Hey I'm not critiscising the practice, it's smart from a 2080Ti owner POV. But buyers of 2080Ti would be mad (IMO) to pay top dolla when 3080 is only 3 months away.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the smarts in that idea.

I sold my 1080ti ages ago while it was still valuable , but only because I needed the money, already had a 290x sitting there to downgrade to and was completely over the games I was playing , with nothing worth a damn on the horizon.

Buying lowly cards to downgrade to if 'your'e a frequent gamer though.. No.. why would you bother , Just keep enjoying your card.

Im betting the 50% figure is only for RTX or something similar and not overall

Yeah, a bit faster raster performance and improved RTX implementation is the kind of thing I'm expecting, the raster performance is what I really care about and a 2080ti will be more than adequate for a long time for me, but some beastly 3080 supa-mega Ti would be kinda cool to play with.

It should be fairly obvious why. 2080ti at ~$1800 new and ~$1400 second hand will soon lose another ~$500 in a few months. High depreciation sucks for flagship models which can be somewhat mitigated by selling early.

Buy a 2nd 2080Ti for SLI on the cheap.

From the results I've seen...2x SLI of the current top-spec is usually ~1.5x to 1.7x the speed of a single next gen card. Then again you have to look for an identical card to the one you currently own.

Could be some good value buying coming up :leet::leet:
