Let the garbage refine the tech and we will start to see some good games with it all ready to go.

Metro Exodus does nice DXR global illumination and its a cool game.

Forgive my ignorance but if it's not artifacting on a monitor why would it artifact in VR?
You just have a display showing x many pixels.

because to display anywhere near 2k 90hz+ required for vr and a smooth consistent experience with frame times under 10ms is just NOT possible with todays hardware. and the RT/dxr resolution would have to be so low it wouldnt be worth it, a 2080ti would struggle in vr with rt let alone a rdna2+ as it essentially has to rerender everything twice once for each eye

Wait i was asking about DLSS 2. I don't care about Ray Tracing?
I thought the point was to reduce cost and deliver better FPS hence making VR better?

Certainly seems an improvement, but i'm not sure how anyone can say it looks better than native? It's full of geometic artifacts still in places, and generally looks like an over the top sharpen filter.

Would be interesting to see it against Radeon image Sharpening again now. Either is no substitute still for Native, but if you have a 4K monitor and can't get the performance @ native, it's definitely a win

Because there is proof of it being better then native.. at times.. And all this improving performance is pretty good. Much better then Nvidia and AMD sharpening due to the gains but yes a similar effect.

I think itl be a win for VR as stuff like the index is pretty demanding.

DLSS 1.0 in Metro Exodus is horrible though its like oil painting filter.

2011 where we beat parity is but a lost dream that will never return. Ah the cheap goods!
It's also bad for tourism and the economy, foreign investment etc etc.

I've been running out of memory with my old Gigabyte 1050 Ti with some industrial 3D modeling stuff I do and saw a special on a Gigabyte RTX 2070 Windforce 8GB.
Not too impressed with the noise factor. At about 80%-90% speed in particular something starts vibrating badly and normally the case is almost silent.

About to pull the card and see if I can locate anything obvious.

Tried a custom fan profile using MSI afterburner? quite often the stock one is silly.

Just saw a 2080Ti sold for over $8k AUD on eBay the other day. Madness, can't even imagine what a 3080Ti would fetch when they come out

Was it actually a true sale, or people just placing silly bids and then cancelling. They're like $2500 new with plenty of places having them in stock so I don't think 8 grand on eBay is legit.

Was it the cyberpunk 2077 version? They were given away only in limited numbers and I guess some would consider that collectible and bid accordingly.

Yeah, it was a cyberpunk 2077... But it's still a 2080Ti, think there was 200 of them in total. Crazy money for a GPU whatever way you look at it.
