Created this thread seeing as how this sought of fits on a different scale then to just one series alone (So don't assume that "this should be in the GTX Series or 9 series thread", because it covers a bigger spectrum then one particular series alone). I'm now feeling the pain of betraying nvidia and going with a ATI product, but at least I can wait and see how things pan out. If speculation is also true, nvidia may allow SLI with (example) SLI iwth a 9600GT + 9800GTX or a GTX 280 + 260 and hopefully with other card combinations in eventual time, which would be awesome :).

Nvidia's prices will have to fall further to tempt me back. I prefer to buy on a bang for buck basis and right now ATI own that arena.

Thought i read this somewhere before..... http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showpost.php?p=9147708&postcount=2678

The last big bang was SLI support, this big bang is just nvidia fixing the faults in its drivers, i'm suprised at the name.

Why does this feel like its directed at me somewhat :D ahaha

They betrayed you, with their shoddy drivers and dual display support. I believe it was mentioned by dinos22 a little while ago that is was being worked on...so its not like it wasn't going to happen.

Seems like nvidia is scaping for features that should of been included for some time..i can see the GTX 260 and GTX 280 happening..don't know so much about the 9600GT and 9800GTX.

Well I agree with you on SLI multimonitor side of things considering Quadros have had this option in their drivers for a while now apparently. But you describe the rest as faults? Considering that OpenGL3 spec isn't expected to be announced until siggraph in August, hard to call that a fault.

Lol this isn't big bang... it's catchup to what consumers should already have with nvidia hardware...

Hmm this could be promising, but im not holding my breath on it.

Multi monitor support could persuade me to go back to SLI but they would need to fix the rest of the problems that come with SLI first :thumbdn:

Being able to mix and match different GPU's could be a handy extra though...

But then again, ATi has had all this for a while so it looks like nVidia has just realised that they should have a go too.....

Seems like a great update to me. The multi-monitor part anyway. I know plenty of people have been turned off SLI because of this reason alone. Yes, it should of been available years ago, but at least it's coming.

Now nvidia just have to make a chipset that's actually tested before releasing!

We can thank ATi since that Nvidia don't care about there buys and 'fanboys' for them its just money money money (then again isn't that the same with all humans :p) Nvidia need to do a bit more for my next rig to have one of there cards

Damn straight, Big Bang 2 amounts to Nvidia making decent drivers for once.

Absolutely, it's about time there was some competition back into the GPU field. Everybody wins.

Bring on the Display Port. THATS what I am waiting for TBH. The rest is just giving what should have been standard all along.

i recken bout time on the driver front but i have no problem with nvidia at all. they have their faults for a while they acted like intel with the pentiums until amd kicked their arse which made intel pull the core two duo out and kick amd in the balls and we are still waiting for a descent reply from amd. so i hope for nvidia sake that they do what intel successfully did that is bounce back from being beaten and kick put amd down

This only SLI option I'm interested in is being able to sli on a non Nvidia chipset. And given some of the other news I've been reading today, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

My understanding is that it will probably be a simple fixing of the drivers they intentionally broke in the first place which restricted functionality to higher cost cards.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the upcoming 4800x2 release....just like their practically non-existent $200 9800GTX cards....nah I couldn't be that cynical. I mean they have such an excellent track record of telling users the full story don't they...like the G84-G86 mobile issue that was only an isolated few...yeah millions.

I think Mr NVidia is spinning again when the chips are down.

well DUH course they are spinning :) same as any other business or human in existance.

but the end game is it will be good for all
    pushes both companies further.

now if amd can come to the party we might see some action in that arena.

as for sli/crossfire on non sli/crossfire platforms it will happen

but who wants to put the first money down on who will implement it in their chipsets :)
logically i am betting on intel as they have the least to loose by allowing both.
and again another good thing for us the plebs :)

Lucid wont be around in any usable form for a while yet, you can be sure of that.

As for nForce 200, last I heard, Intel is forcing Nvidia (and any other chipmaker) out of the Nehalam product, but again I guess we wait for launch. I'd still prefer to sli without the requirement for nvidia chipsets. I have never had an nvidia board post nforce2 that worked perfectly.
