'ere he is, where have you been hiding?
Well i've been lerking in the dark corner of the photography section
I think i needed a break from constant wheel of oc'ing and upgrading, but i've crawled out of that corner now and due a upgrade
I found another sweet hobby in photography which has kept me very busy, also traded the maloo for a supercharged GTS which dented the old back pocket for a bit
How have you been? I see all the old crew is still around in some form
I sold all my benching gear and am building a mitx rig to play with until Haswell-E later this year.
Oh cool! whats it going to be running?
OK girls... get a room please.
Is there a "NVIDIA GeForce 800-Series" thread ??
Couldn't find it.. shouldn't there be one for all the 800 series rumors/news and stuff..
Grabbed an EK block for my Ti today so hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow before the weekend. I promised myself I wouldn't watercool this card, but I just can't help myself. My last 6-7 cards have been on water and it seems that I just can't let this be the exception. The stock cooler is soooo nice though...
Hopefully the EK EN nickel fares better than my Koolance 580 blocks did, even with distilled and LU. I also swore i'd never buy an EK block again after the nickel saga years ago, looks like they're the only ones to get though due to VRM temps for the 780's. I've not been up with how they've been going over the last few years, hopefully its sorted now.
Seems a waste to have all this rad and only a CPU to cool
Maybe i'll regret it, maybe not. Either way i'm looking forward to clocking it up a bit and letting it tick along nicely for a few years
whats to regret, better ocing, less heat and a silent system = winner
The only thing to regret is the price. The fact is that you pay a motza for blocks and they're always a hampering point when it comes sale time. I've always struggled to offload cards with blocks, you basically have to give the blocks away!
do you guys think its wise to move from 7990+7970 to 2x 780ti sc acx ? will there be any performance upgrade running 3240 x 1920 res
You're essentially looking at going from a Tri-fire 7970 to a 780ti... The 780ti is very good, but not 3x better than a 7970...
Also, Run 3Dmark 11 and compare results. Easiest way to check if it's worth it. Quite a few 780ti score around to compare with.
Edit: Quick google, http://vr-zone.com/articles/amd-radeon-hd-7970-tri-fire-results/14406.html - Results P21655 for Trifire 7970
Best result for 780ti so far: P18556 by Scum on an OC'd 780ti Classified.
sorry I mean 2 780tis in sli .... too early for me
Same as above, check out the 3DMark thread for results.
Hopefully it wont be long til the rumours start.

what do you think mate ?
By those numbers, you should see a pretty good performance gain. Although keep in mind, Scum's score was World #1 when he made it. So don't expect these results out of a Stock Air cooled 780ti...
I do realise that .... that's the thing when I look at reviews I see them getting 20k on overall score ...
Up to you man, always nice to play with new hardware and could sell off your cards for a bit still I guess
Get some and challenge scum

So is there any word from CES about the 8xx series or the 770 Ti? I'm holding off my new build, but I'm thinking without a defined release date I'm going to proceed before the end of the month with a 770 (all I can afford!).
