OK lol I'm an idiot .. press 'apply' next time.. anyway got to 21k on +175 mhz GPU clock/ +600 mem clock 110% power. Not game to push it any harder, but my temps never went above 72 degrees.

Just make sure you try a few different benches. I had an OC pass Timespy but fail on Unigine -- well not exactly fail, but it dipped to 10FPS. I dialed back the memory clock and it didn't dip like that again.

I think that's actually great for gamers who want to casually mine to recoup some costs. The LHR meant that there was a >0 chance of acquiring a card, and now those that have them can make a little more coin.

    70% this clos
I have a PNY 3090 (excellent card but noisy - it is the small form factor one and a single fan 3060 which is running 24/7 for months and hasn't missed a beat.)

I found the cooler quite good. There are thermal pads on the back plate, so it's sorta 'active' I guess. I only ran it in the kids computer for a night before putting a waterblock on it so not too much experience sorry.

i find the main difference between the diffrent card brands is the temperature and fan speed noise, a good example is rtx gainward 3080 phantom- the fan is like jet engines.

usually best to try find a video review of the card fanspeed/temperatures on load to get an idea of what the card is like.

Update: managed to crack 20k on Timespy after overclocking RAM. Haven't overclocked the CPU yet, but that's next. Timespy says I'm 1k off the world record for 5900/3080 Ti, I'm 400 points outside the Top 100. Ahh this is addictive:

Gigabyte RTX3080Ti 12GB Gaming OC PCIe Video Card N308TGAMING-OC-12GD $2799

Gigabyte RTX3080 10GB AORUS Waterforce WB PCIe Video Card N3080GAMINGOC-WB-10GD $2499

Gigabyte RTX3090 24GB Gaming OC PCIe Video Card GV-N3090GAMING-OC-24GD $3399

Now would have to add the cost of a water block to the 3080ti and 3090.........have heard the 3080ti's are basically money wasted for little gain over the 3080's

So maybe the 3090 would be nice but would need a water block ... have been waiting and delaying but with so much now been in stock . Maybe just for start put it in as fan cooled and have the CPU getting heaps of cooling ( 3 rad's )

How is the 3090 any better value then the 3080TI ($600 extra) considering the performance / benchmarks are practically the same?

    RTX3080 - Buying help needed

    1) Anyone who has experience with RTX 3080 cards, list the top 5 brands/models for the 10GB range that are high quality built and don’t have any crashing issues and problems?

    2) Also please list the top 5 brands/models for the 12GB range that are high quality built and don’t have any crashing issues and problems?

There is no such thing as 12GB 3080 model. all 3080s are 10GB, 3080Ti are 12GB

as for the 3080Ti list, much the same, as for specific models:

    1. EVGA Kingpin
    2. Galax HOF
    3. Asus STRIX
    4. MSI SUPRIM
    5. Asus TUF
    6. EVGA FTW3 (I believe the pcb year down actually confirmed it's nothing special?)
    7. others?

My "cheap" Zotac 3080 is a better outright "benching" card than my EVGA FTW3 3080 under an EK block.. Stability wise the are the same at stock.

Either the card is "working" or its DOA.. If you want the best overclocking card get a Kingpin or HOF - these are the best binned silicon on the market and the price tag reflects it.

Put together a list of 3080Tis, as I was interest to see what the out-of-the-box clock speeds are for various models.

Boost 2 in most cases require specific Asus/Galax/MSI software.
Price are mostly from PCCG except EVGA which is from ple/BPtech

it's not for gaming, however if you need the extra ram e.g. video/image rendering, then it's worth it compared to say the next tier up (Quadro I believe?)
