You can buy a 240mm AIO hybrid kit from EVGA for them though for $200. I got one for my ftw3 and they're great. Looks like out of stock everywhere now.

Not making a point, just providing options for people interested in the card. The hybrid cooler is better than any air cooled gpu I've owned in the last few years also, including my 3080 tuf oc. First time I've had a gpu be legitimately quiet at full load without a full loop.

fair enough. i just dont want bunnies to be fooled into thinking the XC3 model is good enough at stock to cool a 3080Ti. if you were always going to hybrid cool it, then sure, save your pennies, get the XC3, and strap a water cooler to it.

Agree with that. My first comment was that the cooler was undersized as well ;)

    This.

EVGA has a lot going for it, but their coolers across the range (not just the lower model XC3) are sub-par relative to other air-cooled cards. They tend to be the hottest and loudest. If you're not intending on watercooling the card, not sure why anyone wouldn't just spend the extra hundred bucks (or somethings none) on a better cooled card.

I can't speak for XC3, but the FTW series perform exceptionally well on air, your assertion just isn't backed up by testing.

Here are 3080 Ti and 3070 results, normalised for noise. (They didn't have a 3080 comparison unfortunately).

Note: The Asus 3080 Ti is Liquid Cooled.

And here is the XC in 3060 form, shitty cooling is definitely limtied to XC for eVGA.

The general size/class of the xc3 has it being a pretty nice option for sff, certainly inspires more confidence than PNY/Galax/Gainward/whatever other brands for the same size.

But yep if you're not watercooling just fork out the extra for a better cooler. I think the FTW3 is usually $150 odd more and you'll have a much better experience with it. Size is just one of those things you cant beat or discount when it comes to cooling.

Interesting - I never noticed that part of the Techpowerup reviews before.

This table on their FTW3 review makes it seems worse than that:

I remember looking through the reviews for cooler performance before buying my 3080Ti and I ruled EVGA out on the basis of this table.

I remember last year reading multiple reviews and finding some inconsistencies in air cooler performance depending on the testing methodology.

Then again I saw the same re: Gigabyte Gaming OC which in one review outperformed the Aorus Xtreme and then another showing significantly behind. Then when I pulled apart my Aorus Xtreme for the first time I saw why there was such wild inconsistency.

Someone needs to buy that immediately, even parted out that's a hella cheap 3090, but as a mining/gaming rig it's perfect - would probably mine $1200-$1700 AUD before ETH dries up (depending how much you game vs mine) making this a very competitively priced custom WC build.

I mean the 12 Lian Li fans in that thing are worth $556 Aus alone. SOMEBODY BUY IT!

Who the hell buys this type of setup then sells it to cash converters  Probably only gave them $1,000 for it if they were lucky lol.

You'd be mad not to. Buy it now online and go get it.

    EDIT: Yup - sold.
