^^ lol. normally I would say suck shit nVidia. But considering they made (net) 9.75 billion last year, 5.5m is like buying milk.
You’ve got to wonder how the SEC determined that NVidia knew a significant portion of it’s GPU sales in 2018 were driven by crypto. Direct sales to mining farms? Drivers reporting usage metrics?
Agree, 5.5 million is barely a slap on the wrist. It does however open the door for investors to sue, so the damages could mount.
LHR 100% broken. Watch prices go nuts once more ....
Ethereum postpones difficulty bomb update - The Cryptonomist
Expect several more months of scarcity, they are clearly not ready for June.
But... but... mining has nothing to do with the shortage!!?
Postponed and the mythical merge, this is starting to feel like the Star Citizen thread.
They dont want to let go of the cash cow. Adding another 10-20 seconds to transactions isnt exactly a deal breaker, but wiping out large sectors of miners is.
Not sure prices will go absolutely nuts; might go up a little if supply chokes; but nothing surprising as we've been saying prices likely to stabilise here in pricing thread. To be more specific- this should finally create closer equilibrium between LHR & FHR cards.
Raises some points though:
1. With SEC's recent nVidia fine on crypto, appears pretty clear nVidia will need to provide some reporting on crypto going forward (until/if GPU mining is no longer a big deal). Unless of course they refuse to do so and prefer the petty parking fine
2. Is there any need for nVidia's LHR anymore now that LHR cards are unlocked, irrespective of pending ETH merger?
I'm guessing (hopefully?) other miners on their way to unlocking too, or just a matter of time..?
Nvidia will look stupid if they remove the LHR limiter mid-gen.
it's finally happening https://videocardz.com/newz/asus-no...-pictured-features-quad-slot-cooling-solution
the Noctua 3080
listed at EUR 1,150 around $1,700 AUD
Lol it looks worse than my ziptied one
In my quick google it seems their later LHR (V3?) on cards like the 3080 12GB still hasn't been 100% unlocked.
Gene Hoffman, well known in cryptoverse and runs the business end of CHIA; he keeps asking how is ETH going to be decentralised when they go POS? He says this with a big cheshire cat grin.
god i miss the old days on here when i could just talk about video games and cards with you guys without all this cryptocrap ;(
Luckily the gaming section still exists, and crypto isn't really relevant there as opposed to here
I mean, it's not like this is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series | Gaming Discussion. The LHR being unlocked is news for the 30 series.
guys, you're forgetting about
the change only affects nvidia 3000 series. its relevant here too
new/used prices of current gen nvidia may be affected, for a little while at least.
it does help gamers that crypto market has tanked perhaps..
there are threads though, you are right, and this is being discussed there but from a different perspective perhaps
I hope all those who held out for 3-5yrs like I did get a good deal even if it's used
Well, i held out for a little while, then got a 3070 for $1000, but ended up selling it for $1700, and recently bought another 3070 for $750 (which i'll put in the wife's PC when I get a 4xxx series)
