I think due to the 'shortages' of 3000 series cards hence why they are doing it this way, making everyone free for all :(
and possibly trying to get rid of old stock

Looks like the 3070 will be 10% slower than the 2080ti, am I right?

Kinda hard to say without actually seeing bench marks, they are tipping that it is still faster tho, remains to be seen I guess

Its kinda right. $US503 = ~$AUD700. So mentioned price of $AUD800 is not far off.

And that $700 price guesstimate is for a new card of equivalent performance. Not a secondhand one.

I agree it should be enough, I interpret that information this way:

That reviewer is measuring power consumption at the wall but PSUs are rated according to their combined output power across all rails.

Assuming a best case 92% efficiency, if it was drawing 523W then the PC is running on 481 output watts.

Of course you could hit an issue like we had in the earlier days of overclocking where you max out the power of a single rail. For example you overload the 12V rail even though you're not maxxing out the whole PSU.

lol na... your maths was off due to the % based bullshit foundry was limited too by nvidia, also the cherry picked games... so no entirely your fault

    https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2020-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-review?page=7

It's those % points and the up take in power that worries me. Worries me enough not to get a 3080 on release. Suspect i'll be getting a ti if its released within 6 months

yeah if you want one under a grand I’d buy before the 3080 prices go live, my source told me msi ventus 3080 will be $1599 lol.

once they sell out it could lift 2080ti prices, obviously ocau members won’t pay but outside here slightly different market.

Looking like a worthwhile upgrade over my 1080ti!

Been kicking it strong since first week of launch.
