    the yield on silicon?

I’m thinking a car manufacturer also has yield issues of their own as well. Is it because the architecture is new that yields are low at the moment? Over time they should improve though as they refine the production process?

there is high demand for everything in that GPU and most of it is cutting edge, you can only make so much of it AND they don't want to stockpile a heap of it, they want it out there asap.

    Exactly this.

The higher tier GPU's need better silicon. Some of that silicon that has defects can be repurposed into lower tier cards but for the 3090 and 3080 cards you need almost perfect silicon.

Names will be randomly selected from people who have the closest relationship to the CEO.

In private. Winners get an email saying so, losers get no notification. so Mwave friends and family will all be winners coincidentally.

During the live show they were reading out a few names and what not, then suddenly the competition was finished with some random name appearing on the announcement page.

About 5% quicker then reference 2080ti, better cooling, better noise performance, better build, better overclockability and most importantly RGB :p

Happy to pay for Strix over reference junk (FE is diff this time around though its decent, but near impossible to get it seems)

Strix/Auros etc be out next week, they werent ready as I believe they needed slightly better binning then the pov models.

If they do it right, then they'll only give folk a set time to purchase and if they dont make it they'll redraw. This would be the only reasonable reason not to email the folk that miss out.

Point taken and I'm not saying they are blameless.
The smart ones were mwave. Hopefully the others might learn from their tactic.

Come back and check this thread in a few days when it has died down. 150 pages were added in a matter of hours. To be honest im surprised that ocau didnt crash too. In the cold light of day you will see what happened.

It's Nvidia who should have controlled this better. It's a paper launch if I ever saw one. No one really had any stock to begin with.
The alarm bells started ringing when reviewers never got partner cards in time.

I suspect it was Nvidia who held an nda on releasing prices here.

I actually can't see the value in the Strix and Aorus this time around, I don't think these ampere chips are going to boost very well at all from what i've seen in reviews but I really really hope i'm proven wrong because I'd love an Aorus Xtreme

Tissue paper launch more like it, and it lights up.
