Lads, watch out for your PSU.

Power spikes means that units with not great transient response such as the Seasonic FX platform (Focus Plus Gold and derivatives), Prime Titanium and its derivatives and Prime Platinum will have protections trip when using a 3080 or 3090.

The GX platform (Phanteks AMP!) afaik is unaffected.

Other platforms as of now unconfirmed

I love the computer hardware rollercoaster... first the hype wave, then the scandal wave, then the outrage wave...

Its far too early to pass judgement on anything. Wait for proper testing from people who use proper power supplies etc...

Yeah see what GN says when they tear down these AIBs. I'm sure this will gather enough controversy that they will cover it thoroughly.

Thank God I'm buying from a local retailer though refunds and returns will be much smoother ;)

Source on the EVGA? Nice work by ASUS to put the quality components in even their lower end models.

EDIT: In the GN LN2 stream you can see the FTW3 has six POSCAPs.

Barring a goodwill exchange by the merchant, how would you qualify for a refund based on the capacitor choice given both options are listed on the BoM?

I've never had any issues getting exchanges or refunds from Aussie retailers like Harvey Norman where I ordered my RTX 3080 from. Even with just a change of mind. If for some reason where this GPU simply won't work without any manual OC'ing, I really can't see HN not honouring an RMA or return/refund, within a reasonable time table or under warranty of course.

You should also be concerned which Bypass capacitors are used, Zotac using 220 mf cap while MSI using 470, dont mean much unless you want to overclock but hey higher is better right?

The two TUF cards are the ones to get for sure.

Yeah Asus really stepped it up with the TUF cards this time around.

Explores the issue with a few different cards (xc3, colorful something something, gaming x trio, founders ed.)

Time to get the soldering iron out >< not too hard to fix/buff if you have the tools, and if its actually the issue

FE’s card is 2 x 220s and 2 x 470 bypass caps, a mix of both (can see really clear on Jay’s video).
