Well I've never agreed with that practice. It should only be a deposit, something like $100 would be more than sufficient, with the ability for people to cancel if they need to. To hold $1K-$2K of people money for what could be months is ridiculous.

I mean - not entirely. I'm glad I didn't spend more than MSRP on one, but disappointed I couldn't get hold of an FE for the base price.

Yeh FE is probably the best value option available. You get more hardware (power delivery, cooling) for the cost of the base 3080 tier from AIBs.

Totally happy with my 3080 purchase, regardless of anything else including the 6900 series, especially coming from the 1080.

Has anyone had any drama installing a new 3000 series card? Just tried to install a 3070 into my son's PC.

He was running a GTX 1070 before on a Ryzen 5 3600 cpu and Gigabyte 1200Watt PSU.

Installed the new card but the Motherboard wouldn't even post and the cpu fans etc wouldn't turn on.

Rushed out and bought an new 850watt PSU and still wouldn't load.

Reinstalled old PSU and all of a sudden it worked. Not sure why or what happened but its working with the old PSU but not the new one..

Then say that. You literally said you feel the entire 3080 launch is like mid-tier cards being sold at top end pricing. How the fuck else would that be interpreted?

With your thread history it sure reads like a proper troll.

I think we agree on the principle but probably disagree on the specifics. A deposit serves two purposes. Firstly, it creates an actual contract so if the retailer really wanted to waste their time then they could chase the customer through the courts. More realistically it means the customer has something to lose by just walking away and the retailer being left with the goods. Now, in this particular case I think the goods will sell pretty fast sot he retailer just gets the $100 for free but you need to make the deposit enough for the customer to value losing it. If someone is dropping $1300+ on a GPU then the $100 might not be enough to create that motivation. Most places I have seen that ask for a deposit take between 25% and 30%. Walking away from $400(ish) dollars would give just about anyone pause.

I don't think I've ever seen a case orientated that way. That tripped me for a bit lol.

Works for me, as the PC is on the left hand side of the desk.
The alternative would be the window panel facing a wall...
A handful of cases allow MB side reversal, this is one of them.
