I made this point earlier in the thread, anyone looking at dropping big cash on these latest high end GPUs probably isn't interested in the 1920x1080 performance. Only except are those people running those 240/360hz monitors and trying to eek out as much performance for those esports.

Absolutely. Though I would also have to argue distinctions have to be made. The pricing on those monitors alone is nearly triple the cost of a decent 2560x1440 144Hz IPS monitor.

I allowed for them in the 1% exclusion of my generalisation, they would be a tiny subset of users and not make up any significant portion of the majority of users still stuck in 1080p land.

I have Steam installed on my 1080p, integrated GPU laptop and I have played Jackbox Party pack while connecting it to my TV. Unfortunately it distorts the statistics because I also have a 3090 and a 5120*1440 screen so I will choose the hardware for the task but I'm boosting the number of low-res, low GPU power users on the Steam hardware survey.

Rang up Scorptec, RTX 3080 situation is pretty dire. They are not expecting to complete the orders for certain models like the EVGA XC3 Ultra until March. MSI as well has a massive line that apparently is as worse.

so much this people always look at me funny when I mention the frames I get playing games, but as a competitive esports gamer 1080p high fps is the holy grail. I couldn’t give two shits if I could make out the detail on a leaf as long as I can clearly see the person I’m shooting and can pull as many frames as possible to help. that’s why companies trying to make 360hz 1080p monitors for esports title gamers

But I can’t also definitely agree the majority of gamers would be in a lower to mid tier on expense and also wouldn’t be looking at buying brand new 2k GPU’s

I’d agree to that to some degree but I’d also suggest may be more than you think

1% of the 65% of gamers would be a large number of people and market to target, don't get too caught up in the percentages :p

    Assuming 1.3B worldwide PC gamers
    65% gives us approx 845M 1080p users
1% of them is 8.45M esports players who value high 240hz+ refresh rates

That's still a tonne of people but a small capture of the overall market.

Seems to be coming good now. QLD to WA was only 2 days express last week. My 3080 was over a week in the express system a month or so ago.

    Congrats on the card!

Agreed I would rather higher FPS and FOV than DPI.

Thus the 2560x1080 34" Ultra wide I use "Ohh the horror such low DPI is the worst, my eyes there bleeding"

Have had 1440P and a 3440 ultra wide as well but only at 60hz, while higher resolutions are crisp high refresh is king. IMO

Rtx3080 with a 1080p 60Hz hell yeah who cares each to there own.

You will never get frame drops, have low power usage and low temps.

When I said originally, very early on in the piece, that a lot of people weren't going to get cards well into 2021 I wasn't joking. I was hoping I was going to be wrong, but alas it looks to be true. Just unbelievable.
