Yeah it's around that I think. Of course if I'm not going to benefit doing it, seems like the easier course is to just cancel the card and let the next bloke in line grab it

Or you could be kind to the community you're a part of and have probably gained knowledge or help from in the past, and offer it to an OCAU'er out of kindness?

Surprised the news that nVidia has been selling GA-102 silicon direct to mining organisations hasnt been discussed much in here. Moores Law Is Dead discussed it a lot in his last few podcasts and videos, and NAAF as well. His theory is nVidia were annoyed in the 10 series that AIB partners were making fatter margins due to the mining boom. SO this time around nVidia has decided to sell direct to miners and capture that margin themselves. $175M on the books which would be somewhere from 175,000 to 350,000 3080 GPUs. No-wonder stock is short.... I mean stock was always going to be short.... but 300,000 GA-102s is a lot.

I find it hard to believe that NVidia have been complicit in this. They're just the best and look after their users.

I don't find it hard to believe at all given nVidias history of manipulation of the markets etc. nVidia has always put shareholders ahead of gamers. And if selling silicon direct to mining conglomorates who build their own GPUs with GA-102 means fatter profits per chip, then they would do it no question in my mind.

I've got my cheapy Trinity to tie me over so I'm waiting for a 3x8pin AIO I think.. If you pump and kind of power through these things it's hard to keep them cool in intense games.

These groups will get their chips come hell or high water. Better to just get them out of the way as efficiently as possible. Some of the mining being done now is insane. There are massive farms built directly into power stations, there's one in America which is built within a natural gas power station, the Chinese have some connected to hydro dams. Those places have thousands upon thousands of rigs setup to mine. They'll get chips that fall off the back of trucks. They'll buy out entire warehouses of GPU's if it would make money. Nvidia going direct just cuts out all the extraneous bullshit that caused problems with supply because of miners in the past.

I understand the idea. And I probably would sell at cost price if it wasnt such a good item and I was already taken for a ride by the Scalpers over at Scorptec :D
