When Turing was released didn't they say there wasn't a ti model? Then months later.. surprise!
So they might do the same again....

    Or am i remembering wrongly?

Why do we need 2 threads for these cards?
Merge them and change the title?

Well they say better than 2080ti, but their own graphs suggest = 2080ti. Perhaps marketing idea of better = 1% , so best to look at them as equals I think

Wonder what the 3060 is going to look like.

    Pure speculation, but let's go with ~3680 (+/-100) cores, 1.75ghz, 6gb 192bit.

So how do we go about actually buying these on 17th ? Is it just a matter of smashing the refresh page on PCCG, MWave etc till you get through ?

This happened with the 900 series, the 10 series and the 20 series

There is still hope for 2080ti owners for people wanting to try SLI. Otherwise your a sucker for paying over 1.5k

Even though 3070 is quicker I'd say barely and only 8gb.

3080 at $1200 though is a much better buy. Surely the 1GB less VRAM won't be an issue.

I sold a GTX690 on ebay for like $1000 when they were like $500 on ocau. Buyer said was to match his existing GTX690.

Other thing is 3000 series isn't out and some people are impatient or unaware. This is why I didn't list my 2080ti here haha.

It has dropped from $1999 to $1699 though and I'll be dropping it by $50 each day. Still selling today for $2250 RRP. Feel sorry for someone who buys at that price.

While a lot of people will be focused on the top end cards, the value of the 3070 when compared to the 2080's is just unreal.

If 10 and 20 series are anything to go buy, you'll find it almost impossible to get one in the first month after launch unless you buy direct from nvidia

Keep in mind that all the aus retailers happily took people's money and orders last time and weren't able to deliver stock... so make sure you're ordering with someone who will let you cancel.

as tempting as these cards are, I skipped 1080 after being a 980 owner and don't regret it one bit the 1080Ti was phenomenal value.

will stubbornly wait for the Ti or Super to drop.

I sent a message to the mods yesterday when there was only two or three posts in this thread and nothing happened so I am assuming that two threads is the preference because reaosns.

So on average 170% to 180% performance gain @ 4K from the RTX 2080 to the RTX 3080 depending on the game, including ray tracing.

Huge value I think. You get performance equal to the 2080Ti plus all the benefits of the improved cores, ray tracing and DLSS all for under $1000.

the other one had an out-dated title the OP should have renamed when we knew what the new series was going to be called.

Already been done and demonstrated that there's a huge difference ... as long as you use a potato card with vram count straight out of 2012.
Big card with big memory? Yeah, not so much.

Not even close to the first Titan - which was a 6GB VRAMed Kepler (GK110/7xx series) monster. Soon followed by its Black cousin, and then its SLI-inna-card triple slut big brother "Titan Z".
Then we kick over the 12GB Maxwell (GM200/900 series) Titan X which was soon showed the door by it's Pascal cored (GP102-400/10 series) Titan X(P) daddy which in turn got upgraded to the Titan Xp in order to stay in front of the 1080Ti.

You forgot the 700 series before it :p

With a little bit of luck, this will coincide with Intel sorting their shit out and Core2duo'ing Zen4

Most likely on the day they are available to buy, I would just sit and wait for the reviews as Nvidia never mentioned the performance gain without RT and DLSS and considering 20 series release I still have my doubt :Paranoid:

That being said, the new 3080 and 3090 FE look really awesome I wish Nvidia AU store will allow ppl to buy the FE cards again.
