Has anyone heard anything about likely RTX 3060 prices in Australia?

Well considering the price of 3080 and 3070, just take the US MSRP x2 that would be Australian price

TBH 3060 does not really matter to us if you cannot even buy one just like the 3060Ti right now.

If you look at the MSRP, it's true. I think they have to state the MSRP. But nowhere in the US do you get a 3080 or 3070 for such price. In Japan we the same market price level like in AUS, the retailer do not list MSRP.

US retailer leaked pricing suggests around $US500 for the 3060. $485 for MSI Ventus 2x; $515 for Gaming X, $500 for ROG Strix, $490 for Asus TUF. Given the comparisons of other 30 series models; 2x US retail plus 10% GST would convert to AU retail prices. In which case it makes the current 3070 pricing at around $AU1300 better value given you get a pretty substantial performance increase for very little extra money. Back when the 3060Ti first launched, it was already a toss up between it at $750-800 entry level brand versus a $1k 3070. 3060Ti overclocked off its tits didn't come close to the 3070's stock performance. Unlike the 3080 which when overclocked was firmly in the performance territory of the twice as expensive 3090.

A 3060 overclocked would still fall short of 3060Ti performance by about 10-15%. In fact the current re-released 2060 and 2070 overclocked would proabably match the 3060 performance at $600-700 which would be a 30% discount to the 3060 pricing.

Agree with your statement in general but not sure about this bit... pretty sure 3060Ti vs 3070 is pretty much the same as 3080 vs 3090... in fact closer in a way given the same VRAM.

Apparantly the 3060 will come with an "antimining" firmware to prevent the crypto shitheadx to absorb this market segment as well. It won't help for 3080 and 3070 though.

Though new batches may contain a updated firmware seeing NVIDIA have to roll one out for Resizable BAR support anyway.

But like I said earlier in the thread when it was brought up...
What gamers are going to want the 3060 anyway? Too slow...

Plenty people still playing in 1080p and sitting on 1070 or below level hardware.... if the price isn't inflated it would be a half decent upgrade.

I'd stick one in both my sons machines, they both are playing at 1080p, one's using a GTX 1050ti the other a 1050, might be a worthwhile upgrade.

Huge market, I think. Most poeple do not game with their PC. You still need a capable vid card.

Right, assuming "artificial" demand like for the 3080 and 3070.

However, given that the shitheads cannot use the 3060 for mining, I think we can expect a more reasonable price level for the 3060.
