It's a little funny that some people are still waiting for 3080 launch orders.... and places like scorptec are now running competitions that give away a 3080 for free.

nope, TRG.dOinK and Sledge like this.

Yet even they themselves do not have any available for customers to buy.

what PSU's are people using in their setups with a 3080?

    I have an asus tuff 3080, i9 10900k, m2, 2x SSD 7 fans and a water pump

was doing a new build and had a corsair 1500w psu so didn't really have to worry about power. but I have had to return it to amazonAU as it turned out to be a dud and just kept randomly turning off and now they are saying that they can not supply another unit and are offering a full refund. looking on the asus website for an i9 cpu and 3080 they are recommending an 850W PSU, but if you tick "overclocking" to on it says a 1000W.

considering the founders edition recommends a 750w do we really need to goto 1000W for a 3080

If overclocking yes. Primarily because you have an i9. Should be ok if you don’t oc the cpu...but...

    Corsair RMx 750w

    Fan still never spins up.

Max wall socket draw I've seen is about 550W on my system.

EVGA g2 750 here. Running 5900x, 3080 waterforce wb, 7 fans, ddc pump, 1 ssd, 2x m2, 1 hdd. No problems. I can overclock the card and have it top out on power draw and see no issues. If i were to go a 3x8pin card then i might consider going for a new PSU but only after id thrashed the current one to see if it started to struggle.

I am also using a 750W PSU (Corsair SF750) for my 5900X/3080 combo. Even when both fully overclocked it doesn't struggle. https://www.3dmark.com/spy/18740801

On another note.. I'm Really enjoying my 3080 Suprim X over the Strix I had. Way better memory/core thermals while not looking as boring imo.

    3900X and 3080 Trio X on a 750Watt EVGA G2 Supanova, seems fine.

Approx 7yo Corsair AX860 here with TUF 3080 and 5900X. haven't played around too much with OC, but similar to Skramit, haven't heard the PSU fan spin up at all.

but mah LCD screen, RGB and already sleeved cables....

I would probably end up with HX1000W corsair if I go that route.

That's what I just bought, built my wife a ITX rig, gave her the Silverstone 1000w SFX-L power supply, picked up the Corsair.
I hate the thick unbendable heat shrink cables due to inline resistor, so I just picked up some extensions for the PCIe, CPU and MB power cables.
Didn't even bother taking off the cable ties, kept the cables neatly bundled then plugged in the extensions

I went for a Corsair AX 850 Titanium. Expensive but I won't be replacing this PSU for upwards of a decade. It's only real issue is it has really shitty cables for such a premium product.

shitty as in no sleeving and look ugly? or just weird setup?

i have a toughpower 750w from over 11 years ago that still runs in a spare pc, you should have no issues with yours lasting at least that :)
