And that's why I won't put full payment up front to order something
I've only had one order with them (3080), which did shift ETAs a few times but was ultimately delivered within a couple of weeks of the first ETA.
At least PLE try and let you know what's going on. I've got a standing order with Scorptec for an RX 6800XT, placed 27 Nov 2020 and I have absolutely no idea when it might be fulfilled, Scorptec claim they don't either but clearly they have just decided not to even try and communicate with customers on the issue.
No they don't. they just shift the ETA. I literally had to email them on 2 occasions to get details out of them. I know it's hard in the current climate but I think they need to change the way they do things because all it does is generate hate. Umart seem to have a good system where when things are in stock, you can order, otherwise you can't.
Centrecom do it the same way. Fuck pre-orders.
Can you mine while gaming? Yes. Some very interesting behaviour. My 3090 when playing World of Warships while having nicehash on in the background, before the game it is averaging 117MH/s at the 295W setting I had in Afterburner (85%) when playing the game the average drops to 60MH/s along with a substantial drop in power where it is averaging 225W while playing the game and mining. I play on 1440P settings, if I play on 4k the fps drops below 75 with some dips below 30FPS so I gave that away and just play 1440P. Mem Jct temps never went above 84C when playing the game.
Anyone else mining when gaming? I might try Call of Duty MW but I expect a very stuttery performance and super hot core.
I did in MW.
It ran like shit and I wondered why it was stuttering.
But i'm just using mine to mine if i'm working from home and it helps keep me warm.
i wonder when mcm gpus come out if there will be like a mining gaming split mode
Feels tantalizingly close, but probably still another couple months away LOL.
What's the earliest date without ETA and what was your order date?
Yes I mine nicehash and play PC Building Simulator at the same time. But I limity my frames to 30 in the nvidia control panel so it mines at about 80% of usual rate. If I dont cap the frames, mining drops right down.
umart recently updated their 3080 price list and now the CHEAPEST 3080 is $1959. LOL.
Pricing is truly fucked.
I bought 4 3080's...
$1449 iChill X4
$1499 TUF OC
$1799 Strix OC
To see now they are starting at $1959 is mind boggling.
The fact that 3080's are now basically non existant..... nVidia must have just said "fuck it" and are now selling 100% of GA102 chips direct to mining farms. Before Xmas, there was at least a tiny trickle of 3080's coming in each day or two. But fuck me I havent seen umart or centrecom etc list a 3080 in stock for weeks now.
I bought two 3080’s two weeks ago from a shop in the USA for $799 USD each. They say they will honour the order but have since stopped taking orders. Last time I checked a week ago they had 4,800 orders for the particular Gigabyte card and are expecting 2,400 in.
I am sceptical.
Yeah, I've noticed that too. Basically total unobtainium now.
I'll just leave this here for the perpetual waiters. In the meantime, my 3080 has been great for the last 3 months
Imagine if 3080 buyers could sell them second hand for more than the going price of the 3080ti, because you couldn't use the newer cards to mine!
3080 are the new crypto currency
EDIT: ...and piss off cbwolf nah waiting for 3070Ti. maybe, or 40 series... or quantum computing
They need to enable this on all cards that haven't been shipped yet... get it going on everything as they come out the factories..
Whaat? IBM have been offering free quantum cloud computing for at least 3 or 4 years.
Go for it: https://quantum-computing.ibm.com/
no I want my own
ETA for me is now saying 11/3. I guess they are expecting a 3080 FTW3 Ultra shipment early next week.
I couldn’t give a crap about any potential 3080ti at this stage. It’ll probably be overpriced to death and unavailable for months. If it’s reasonably priced, available, and a decent bit better than 3080 (meaning it would have to also beat a 3090...) then I’d just buy one to upgrade again anyway...
