Yeah, I'm feeling the same now about the 3080Ti.. cheers for helping with my indecision  I'd hoped stock issues would clear up a bit sooner but now I think I'll drop in an order for a 3080 FTW3 Ultra. Should have done it earlier.

What sort of power was it pulling? Efficiency wise they seem to perform best around 220W. My ZOTAC sits at about 65c and the Hybrid EVGA at 50c. Close to paying themselves off at this point.

Are these memory temps? the GDDR6X just goes hard no matter what power limit I target.

Is there much more into on this, 2gb doesn't seem very compelling over a 3080.

It’s not about the RAM. It’s about the cuda cores. You don’t need 16GB VRAM.

Yes, I know. It's why I asked if there was much more to the story.

Not really. They are going with 12GB to maximise memory bus and keep it the same as 3090 memory bus.

i have a cute little 3060ti and a massive 3 slot 2x8pin 3070 igame ultra. the big one just seems insanely big and stupid. why do they still make such big cards? and who buys them? surely for gaming its completely irrelevant, since the '60s and '70s arent that hot, and most people arent extreme overclockers. so why?

GPU's are a "feature war" to add cheap features to cards to justify segmentation of the market to extract the maximum amount of money they can from a customer. It's why you see stupid shit like 3070's with three 8 pin power connectors.
