Exactly that reason, will be upgrading in the next few months, rather do it now then not have to worry at a later date, just plug and play. I had assumed it was able to run regardless, just thought I'd double check

Flash the Galax 3090 gamer OC bios using nvflash. Gamer OC bios available https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/227896/galax-rtx3090-24576-200928

Then use the Galax 3090 update tool

Inno3d supplied me with a rom file and i just used their tuneit software to apply it.

    Happy days. Rebar enabled!

Now if only they would fix their fkn bios to actually use 370w as advertised in their specs, rather than be capped at 340w..... *sigh*.

I think it's doing something to patch the bios - on the EVGA forum they are saying if you have the 450W bios already and update it to this new one it keeps the 450W limit.
I updated my normal bios and it retained 105% power limit (400W), going to try the OC bios now and see if it retains 118%.

Having said that, my testing with BAR enabled in Superposition, Timespy, Timespy Extreme and Port Royal have all yielded exactly fuck all improvement, so despite Precision X1 telling me BAR is enabled I'm just not seeing it.

Can confirm, updating the 450W bios kept the power limit but enabled BAR.

    So:
I updated Bios 1 (normal) and it kept the same power limit (105%) but enabled BAR.
    then:
I updated Bios 2 (OC) using exactly the same process, and it kept the same power limit (118%) but enabled BAR.

The 450W bios which I had loaded into Bios 2 (OC) is an experimental beta bios (from eVGA) and not the stock OC bios that comes on the card, so this does seem to indicate to me that the update process is patching or splicing the existing bios to enable BAR, not necessarily replacing the entire thing.

This was done on an eVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra using the eVGA Precision X1 software, so I don't know how that translates to other cards.

Also, BAR has not shown any improvement in my synthetic tests, other than Port Royal with the 450W bios which did get me a new all-time PB, and about 3.2% better than the immediate 1:1 pre-BAR test.

Looks like the update works if you are using the original bios with the gimped power limits from the trinity oc or amp holo.
I had flashed my trinity oc with the newest amp holo bios ages ago, might try flashing to the original amp holo one and try the rbar update and see.

AMP Holo vbios with the 102% PL updated to Resizable Bar
I dont think the extra power makes a difference since I'm underclocking anyway, maybe by the time I get my setup under water they'll have an update for the later vbios with 110% PL

Love the line about there will be 21 cards available. A significant improvement than at the 3000 series launch.

Anyone noticed an increased in CPU temps after enabling rebar?

I don't know enough about how it works to understand whether it makes sense to happen, but I've definitely noted my CPU running hotter in games since I enabled rebar on the 3080.

Well the memory controller is in the CPU? So if there's more data going through at a faster rate, then maybe?

    Techpowerup always does great reviews.

So overall nothing amazing, but a free 2 - 5% performance bump is nice
