And at $3699 they have come in and gone again in an hour or so.
Surely there is no corruption in China?!
So 3080ti end of the month???
The paper launch anyway
So I bought a prebuilt with a 3070 card in it. Holy crap I can see why they are so popular with miners. Almost 59MH/s for less than 120 watts...
you can push it to ~63ish, is it wrong that I'm looking at Gpu's and just seeing hashrates?
No, it's a function of the product. I'll say it wherever I go... if you have a 30 series and you arent mining while idle... well you're a bit silly.
ahem all i can say is REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I WANT A NEW GPU NOOOOOOOW bugger scalpers/miners
Honestly I'm pretty much at the "can't beat 'em, join 'em" stage myself.
The enormous global power consumption for the purpose of increasing personal wealth amongst the already wealthy is pretty much my only moral/ethical concern.
If Australia's national grid were based on a much higher percentage of renewables (pick a number that feels good to you... >50%?) I'd probably already be doing it.
Not really the right thread for such discussion though I guess, sorry.
I just hope that nVidia isn't lying (again) about nerfing hashrates in silicon on new mid-tier cards.
Let the miners have their golden-egg geese/unicorn cards, I couldn't afford to buy one even if any were available.
But it would be nice to upgrade to a new mid-tier 1440p card sometime this decade. Not asking for much here.
A mid tier card you would pay off half of it within 55 day credit card period.
How long to pay off a prebuilt with a 3070?
About 3 and a bit months, give or take a few weeks.
Might have to do a little online price comparison... talk to some people.
The Dark Side is calling.
Yeah I'm actually so tempted to just cop a 3070 right now and have it mining away....at the current rate of $20 per day ROI is about 75 days (given the price of $1500 for a 3070)
So anyway... IS RTX EVEN WORTH IT?!? [insert relevant CP benchies]
No but DLSS is pretty damn good.
Probably a year. (For a $3100 system) - might be longer if ETH dies early next year but you will be left a great system and you could probably plot Chia on it for a bit of a laugh and also go to one of the many other coins to mine when ETH dies.
whattomine.com suggests ~$12-$15 USD of daily profit which is about 15-20 roobucks per day. 3 and a half months ought to cover the cost of a $2k 3070 prebuilt.
I wouldn't base ROI on todays or last few days prices, it's double, triple and more than normal earnings!
For instance, on Nicehash in a 4 hour payment period overnight my 100Mhs miners earned 0.00010272 BTC (AU$6.68), when in a normal period a week or so ago I'd be earning ~0.00002787 BTC (AU$1.81) in a 4 hour payment period. Currently it's high $20's a day, normally ~$10-$12 a day.
