That was one awkward Keynote. Needed more Jensen
The point people were making then is that the 3090 and 3080 are both on the Top 102 die, and the later is only marginally 'cut down' in performance, and all are at high TDP's already.. leaving no room for a true "3080ti" in relation to the 3080 There's little logic putting anything in between really. Doesn't mean they wouldn't do it.. just it makes no sense. and if anyhting a 'Super' suffix would be more fitting.
It's still very clear this generation had a naming Shift upwards in relation to their die codenames
everytime he said TIE i just died a little, always been TEE EYE for me, not TIE....
Still going to get a 3080 Ti or a 3090 to replace the 2080 Ti -- just need to figure out which one, and if it will be this year, or even this decade......
One can sort of imagine the meetings that were had between representatives from Marketing and Engineering.
Pretty sure I know which department decided on "TIE".
All the coverage I've seen from the Usual Suspects on youtube and elsewhere was along the lines of "why nVidia, just why?" and yeah... more marketing than actual product differentiation at the die/package level, or so it would seem. Business as usual?
I'd love to check out this DLSS thing that everyone's raving about though...
I'm not here for the debate, but I know there's some who are
I recall seeing a few, not many, but a few occasions where the 3080 hit the roof with vram and performance really capped, I certainly don't care enough to search through all benchmarks of all games at all settings to find them, count that as a win for yourself if you wish
lol Jensen calls it T I doesn't he?
just watch retailers to blow up 3090 prices to justify current 3080 and incoming 3080ti prices lol
they won't make 3080 ti prices reasonable, if they price it too close to current 3070/3080 prices they will have to drop those cards down in price, just like 3070>3080 they will make it a $500-1000 gap
LHR +high price tag, chance there will be cards sitting in stock
god dammit nvidia.
*checks bank balance*
RTX 3070 Ti will be priced at $US599 globally... So $2,000+ AUD here?
Looks like they changed the price at the last minute lol *hugs ple 3080*
Given the regular 3070s are already priced at that or higher, I'm thikning more like $2200 - $2500 for the 3070Ti depending on model.
where are the guys 8 months ago saying fk the 3080/90s we’ll wait for the Ti!!!
well enjoy fellas should be plenty stock coming I hear
Shit, still tempted despite the $1,999 "MSRP" for the RTX 3080 Ti.
Yup, that page is now $1199 USD without tax (equivalent of $1656 AUD inc GST if you factor 7% US sales tax).
$1656 before the distributor/retailer gouging. Ouch.
the 3080 launch price was $965 AUD using the same calculations. This became $1100 -$1400 at retail before things got really crazy.
the 3090 launch price was $2072 AUD using the same calculations. This became $2200-2600? at retail initially? (help me out here fellas)
Prediction for 3080Ti launching into a crazy market is $2500 AUD min.
does that mean 3080s will come back to under 2k? or there likley to be even less stock of them now haha.
i dont own a green tie at present. sadface
If the 3080s remain LHR free, and the Ties are all pre-tied to avoid unapproved uses, it's not impossible to have a distorted market where 3080s sell for more than the 3080 tie.
I wonder if there will be a round 3 with a 3080 Cravat, that's between normal and a tie.
NVidia 2022 Roadmap:
SEXY, wonder how they do full load..
interesting. then may have to get 2 ties and sell the 3080 to a miner...
Well the Ti is short for titanium. So TIEtanium makes perfect sense.
