    NVidia Lovelace AD102 GPU will launch before Hopper.

    [IMG]
    Ada Lovelace(1815-1852) is associated with the creation of what are considered to be the first computer programs.

    The NVidia RTX 40 series of cards are expected to be based on the Lovelace AD102 GPU that will be fabricated on a Samsung 5nm process, therefore users can look forward to huge performance gains even over the RTX 3090.
    Possible release timeframe for the series according to Greymon55(well-known Nvidia tipster), is apparently the fourth quarter of 2022 or the first quarter of 2023.
    The latter has been hinted at before, with Nvidia announcing that the Grace server chip will be launched in 2023. This data-center part is also based on a 5nm manufacturing process.
    In terms of FP32 at 1.8 GHz, the Ampere GA102 chip offers 38.7 TFLOPs while the Lovelace AD102 reportedly computes at 66.4 TFLOPs - the alleged RTX 4080/4090 specs that were making news headlines back in December 2020.

    Nvidia might have even more than double the RTX 3090’s performance levels to squeeze out of the top-end GeForce RTX 40 series SKU.
    With a supposed 18,432 CUDA cores, compared to 10,752 for the GeForce RTX 3090, the top Lovelace-based card already holds a lot of performance promise.

    Both Lovelace and RDNA3 are promising crazy gen on gen performance. I'll take a pinch of salt and wait to see how this one develops before I get too giddy.

    Almost feels like skipping 'even' generations might the right call. With respect to RRP price/performance 1000 series rocked, 2000 series sucked, 3000 series is amazing, 4000 series...?

    Quoting as a place holder when its the standard 20 - 30% jump in performance

    One could argue that 20 series was the best cos new features like Ray Tracing and DLSS..
    On not so demanding games(like CoD MW2 or Cold War @ 1440p max or Minecraft etc), games would run almost identical on RTX2080Ti/RTX3090/RTX4090(cos even RTX2080Ti is fast enough) but looks much worse on GTX1080Ti(and older) or on AMD cards.

    RTX4090 should be much faster than RTX3090 according to expected specs.
    RTX2080Ti = Turing TU102, TSMC 12nm(6, 36, 72, 4608, 16.6 TFLOPs), 11GB GDDR6 352bit, 14Gbps, 616GB/s
    RTX3090 = Ampere GA101, Samsung 8nm(7, 42, 84, 10752, 38.7 TFLOPs), 24GB GDDR6X 384bit, 19.5Gbps, 936GB/s
    RTX4090 = Lovelace AD102, Samsung 5nm(12, 72, 144, 18432, 66.4 TFLOPs), ~24?GB GDDR7? 416?bit ~25?Gbps ~1200?GB/s
    NVidia will upgrade the memory on RTX4090 to ~24-26Gbps(GDDR7?) cos they've been doing that each gen and it'll need faster memory for 18+K cuda cores. (GTX1080Ti had 11GB GDDR5X, 11Gbps, 484GB/s)
    MSI RTX2080Ti Gaming Z had faster 16Gbps, 704GB/s memory(instead 14Gbps, 616GB/s) and Micron already had 21-22Gbps GDDR6X memory available when NVidia released RTX3090. So we might get RTX3080Ti or RTX3090 with faster memory bit later.

    At the risk of getting slightly off-topic... the RT performance on Turing is/was pretty terrible.
    Equally, DLSS hadn't matured properly at Turing release, and didn't really gain popularity until Ampere.
    Turing was stuck in a jack-of-all-trades/master-of-none dilemma, and for the price (RRP) it was a joke because raster performance was marginally better than Pascal at best.

    Yep RT performance was terrible at the start(pretty much useless even if you had fastest 20 series), and DLSS was also crap(looked terrible) at the start.
    But things are different now, RT and DLSS both matured so games look awesome and playable, even on most demanding games like Control.

    This is clip from Oct 2019, ~year before 30 series got released.

    Doesn't make business sense to push massive improvements out. More likely to see ~20% performance and ~10% price hike as the market has shown it is willing to pay higher prices.

    If RTX4090 is only 20% faster at 10% higher price(RTX4080 would be probably similar to RTX3090) then they won't sell many..
    But NVidia could become the next trillion dollar company if they sell much faster card(40 series) for "cheaper"(/wink).. like they did with 30 series.

    lol @ 2:20 :upset::D

    Bring back Ada Lovelace, at least she knew how to release a product on time and in reasonable quantities!

    3:27 did it for me.

    Well this time round AMD have shown they are ready to take NV on... So a 20% gain won't be enough.

    Maybe AMD will learn to make drivers by then.

    24GB VRAM on RTX3090 seem to be useful on games like Control @ 1440p, because most games benefit slightly(~1%-5%) from enabling Resizable BAR except for Control(at least on RTX3080Ti, ~7-8% slower) and I thought that was bit weird, possible due to 12GB VRAM?

    Anyway I checked the average fps on Control Ultimate Edition using RivaTuner, played from start each time with Resizable BAR enabled/disabled, and I got:
    137 average fps with Resizable BAR enabled: https://imgur.com/a/zP35TE3 (~5% faster)
    130 average fps with Resizable BAR disabled: https://imgur.com/a/Xf924cq
    Ran RivaTuner after starting the game and played non stop for ~30-40mins each time to get the accurate average fps.. test done on 11900K & RTX3090(all stock) at 1440p max settings.

    Wonder if NV will run into similar problems like Intel, where the chiplet style design will allow AMD a lot more flexibility over a single large chip
