Nice, about time we got some "official" news this year.
MCM (multi-chiplet) reminds me of the old 3dfx voodoo days when they put 2 chips on the card :D

like your (sig) quote btw, reminded me of an old one you might like ;)
'Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.'

:D I love it. My sig is actually a quote from my engineering design professor lecture in my first year of uni. Every Friday since then the misc pics keep adding to the evidence/strength of that quote.

I don't think they came to market, that was the voodoo 5 5000 series iirc.

690 was a dual chip card iirc.

agree, I cant see either being true that a 4060 will be on par with a 3090; and a 4090 3x faster than a 3090??! thats a fantasy.
If the latter was indeed true, would be the largest generation leap of any nVidia product historically by a mile.
or in other words- would make the card legendary/cult status.

if rumour mill is true, maybe a 4070Ti == 3090, nothing less.

Wasn't the old nvidia rule each gen the tier aboves performance drops one tier, i.e. 1080 = 2070 = 3060 in terms of perf? I think the biggest issue gn and hub had with the 30 series was that they bumped up prices simultaneously, so there was no gain in terms of perf/$.

Yes, but with mounting pressure from AMD, NV seem to want to move the goal posts much further this time.

Core specs are more or less concrete info now.

The AD103 with 10752 cuda cores on a significantly improved node over Samsung 8nm plus 16x as much Cache will make whatever top SKU on this core absolutely thrash the 3090.

Obviously the AD102 (likely 4090/4080Ti) with its 18752 cudas will be on a whole new level of performance, definitely 2x or more a 3090.

That article is from last year.

From my understanding most of the current Lovelace rumours comes from @kopite7kimi and @greymon55 acknowledges this in a number of his tweets.

The other thing is that he is quite open about that a lot his tweets are guesses.

But a lot of hardware sites are quite happy to write entire articles based on a single tweet of his. From my understanding he is a Chinese poster that sometimes gets info from bilibili along with some contacts in Chinese packaging plants.

Anyways, on RTX40 series @kopite7kimi recently tweeted this...

That amount of power on TSMC N5 with IPC improvements? Nvidia must think AMD has something special up their sleeve with RDNA3 :D

I'll bet they are talking about RT performance increases, a 2x+ increase in raster performance gen to gen is literally unheard of.

I'd be ecstatic if I was wrong, but I can't help but feel there must be some massive qualifiers to these 2x and 3x rumours floating around.

Rumor: AMD's MCM Based RDNA3 RX 7000 GPUs Will Be More Power Efficient Than NVIDIA RTX 4000 GPUs And Could Even Offer Higher Performance (wccftech.com)

When you dig into this rumour, you can see that they (Moore's Law is Dead) and others aren't really talking about 2x gains...

It's ALSO possible NVidia have changed their architecture to be more performant at lower resolutions... they really suffered at 1080p this gen (compared to RDNA2), and only really stretched their legs at 4K or when using RT. It's not unreasonable to think they might see 80% improvement at 1080p, but something much more modest at 4K and higher.

Possibly. I think the x2 raster guess is from the leaked arch design. So its a armchairs analyst theoretical value. But I'm guessing.

I don't really track Nvidia rumours, but they popup since the #silicongang twitter crew talk about all the gpu's... sigh... :p

Thats one interesting thing I didnt see in this presentation, which was the comparison in power usage/savings, where they spent a lot of time highlighting in the A100 keynote but decided for obvious reasons not to.

Any chance 4000 series might come out with two hdmi 2.1 ports rather than one?
